Rush Limbaugh Proclaims America a Failure

Not content to root only for the failure of President Obama, on his radio show today, Rush Limbaugh declared America a failure because Obama is succeeding. Rush said, “Ladies and gentleman this country is failing because Obama is succeeding.” Rush claimed that the economy is hopeless, and we are all doomed.

Specter Urges Senate Support for Sotomayor

Recently turned Democratic Senator Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania holds a key in the upcoming confirmation process for President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor. In a statement today, Specter not only praised Sotomayor, but also urged the Senate to give her a full and fair confirmation process. Specter’s support all but confirms Sotomayor.

Dick Cheney wants $2 Million for His Memoirs

According to the New York Times, former vice president Dick Cheney is asking for $2 million for his memoirs, which will cover his political career. Cheney’s book will be one of seven works that are being written by former members of the Bush administration. My question is who would pay millions for a book that is certain to end up in the dollar bin?

Karl Rove Blames Obama for Guantanamo Bay

After President Obama stated that he had inherited the legal mess of what to do with the GITMO detainees, Karl Rove went on the Brian and the Judge show yesterday and claimed that this was all Obama’s fault, even though it was the Bush administration’s opening of the facility that caused the problem in the first place.

Cheney Waxes Nostalgically for the Good Old Days of 9/11

During his speech at the American Enterprise Institute today, former vice president Dick Cheney continued to offer up his version of the Bush administration. Today Cheney said that the release of two memos will lead to the Bush administration, “will stand up well in history,” but the most striking part of his speech was his fond remembrance of America’s fear after 9/11.

Ed Schultz Debates Ron Paul on The Ed Show

After Ed Schultz put Rep. Ron Paul in the Psycho Talk segment of his MSNBC show last week, because Paul wants limited federal spending on only constitutionally mandated programs, Rep. Paul came on his show tonight to defend his point, and engage in a passionate debate on the issues. Check this fun piece of video.

Harry Reid Screws Obama on Closing GITMO

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid declared in press conference today that he will not support GITMO detainees being held in the United States. Reid said that he supports Obama’s plan to close GITMO, but will not support, “terrorists to be released in the United States.” Reid is screwing Obama to save his reelection bid.

Obama Triumphs At Notre Dame

President Barack Obama was warmly welcomed at Notre Dame’s commencement today. Obama used his speech to not only called for a reduction in abortions performed, and for two sides of a debate that will probably never agree on the issue, but they can have an open hearted and minded debate.

Liz Cheney Defends Dear Old Dad on Authorizing Torture

Former Deputy Sec. of State Liz Cheney was on ABC’s This Week today, and she defended her father Dick Cheney against a report this week that he wanted a detainee waterboarded to prove an Iraq/al-Qaeda connection. Cheney said that her dad would never substitute his own judgment for that of the CIA. Need she be reminded that her father once tried to declare his office a separate branch of the government?

Ed Schultz Takes On Ron Paul

On the “Psycho Talk” segment of his MSNBC show tonight, Ed Schultz turned his attention to Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) who has suggested that the United States government should cut all funding that isn’t in the Constitution. Schultz pointed out that eliminating Departments like Education and Agriculture, would mean getting rid of food standards and safety.

Glenn Beck Compares the Obama Administration to the Holocaust

On his Fox News show today Glenn Beck gave his studio audience a lecture about history by comparing the Obama administration to the Nazis and the bankers, auto industry executives, and AIG to the Jews. He stated that the American people won’t pay attention until the Obama administration comes for them. I think his comparison is insulting to Jews and memories of the Holocaust.

More Homophobia from Joe the Plumber

Joe the Plumber is back today. In an interview with Toledo, Ohio’s ABC 13, Joe the Plumber said that the sight of men kissing each other throws him off. Joe also bemoaned the fact that his book didn’t sell well, and said that he believes that he can stretch out his 15 minutes of fame for one more year.

Dr. Rand Paul Announces 2010 Senate Exploratory Committee on The Rachel Maddow Show

Tonight on The Rachel Maddow Show, Rep. Ron Paul’s son, Dr. Rand Paul announced tonight that he has formed an exploratory committee to investigate running for Senate in the state of Kentucky. Dr. Rand Paul shares many of his father’s views, and also argues that the Republican Party needs to embrace civil rights and liberties. This means he won’t be popular with the base of the GOP.

Rep. Dennis Kucinich Blasts AIG

Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) confronted AIG CEO Edward Liddy during his House testimony today about a lawsuit involving many Ohio public employees’ pension fund, which lost $96 million to AIG fraud. The lawsuit has been dragging on since 2004, and Kucinich demanded answers.

Rush Limbaugh went into full paranoia mode today over healthcare reform. Rush claimed that healthcare reform will allow government to control every element of our lives, but the truth is that Rush and the Republicans are running a con when it comes to healthcare reform. Rush is trying to pull the ultimate distraction.

Kristol Admits that Republicans Were Wrong to Blame Obama for the Stock Market

Could it really be that someone on Fox News admitted that they were wrong about President Barack Obama driving down the stock market? On Fox News Sunday, Bill Kristol admitted that he was wrong to blame Obama for the 20% drop in the stock market during the first month of his term. This was a popular GOP talking point that has been debunked by the market’s surge over the past month.

Think Progress has put together a fine collection of the major gaffes of the first 100 days of Michael Steele’s leadership of the Republican National Committee. I am not aware of any other party chairman who has had so many screw ups in their first 100 days, but as Steele says all of his gaffes are part of his strategy.

Dick Cheney Gives the GOP More Bad Advice

In an interview with North Dakota radio host Scott Hennen former vice president Dick Cheney said that it would be a mistake for the Republican Party to become more moderate. He said that doing so would mean changing the fundamental philosophy of the GOP. Cheney also said that the older Republicans should move on, but yet he is still here, helping the Democrats.

Obama’s Elitist Cheeseburger With Mustard

Conservative talk radio has been smoldering the air waves today with criticism of President Barack Obama over his choice of condiments. The fact that Obama ordered a cheeseburger for lunch yesterday with Dijon mustard, not ketchup is proof to them that the president is an un-American elitist. Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, and Mark Steyn have all criticized Obama’s burger.

Michael Savage Threatens to Sue the UK for Banning Him

Conservative right wing talker Michael Savage threatened today to sue U.K. Home Office Sec. Jacqui Smith for banning him from the United Kingdom. Savage was banned for stirring up hatred that could lead to inter-community violence. Savage apparently has failed to see the irony in the fact that he regularly calls for Muslims to be banned from the U.S.

Dick Cheney Claims to Be Defending the Little Guy From Obama

Former VP Dick Cheney gave an interview to The Weekly Standard, in which he claimed that he publicly criticizes President Obama because he is fighting for the little guy. Cheney claimed to be defending the lower level Bush administration people on the torture issue. The problem with Cheney’s statement is that President Obama has made it clear that he is not interested in prosecuting the little guy.

GOP: Hate Crimes Laws Increase Attacks on the Rest of the Public

Rep. Steve King (R-IA) is not only against the Matthew Sheppard Act, but last night on Fox News he argued that hate crimes legislation creates “sacred cows” that force an attacker to their attention to other members of the general public. He warned that hate crimes laws, “put the victimizer’s focus on someone else.” Does this mean that it is more acceptable for a black, gay, or disabled person to be attacked?

An Open Letter to PA Dems: Let’s Weigh Our Options before We Support Arlen Specter in 2010

Since joining the Democratic Party, Sen. Arlen Specter has voted against the bankruptcy reform bill, and the Obama budget. Specter has also claimed that he won’t be a loyal Democrat, and that he won’t support the Employee Free Choice Act. If Arlen Specter won’t show loyalty to the state’s Democrats, then why should they show loyalty to him in the 2010 Democratic primary? Democrats need to weigh their options before they support Arlen Specter.
