How weak is the GOP criticism of Obama’s speech? The best criticism that former Bush press secretary Ari Fleischer could off of President Obama’s Cairo speech today was that it was too balanced. While Rush Limbaugh was left to babble about how Obama offered the Muslim version of ACORN and Rev. Wright.
On his radio show today, former Rep. Bob Ney challenged former attorney general Alberto Gonzales to still defend waterboarding as not torture, after he tried it. Ney said, “If Alberto Gonzales wants to clear his name by saying he didn’t cooperate in torture, then let him try it himself.”
Rush Limbaugh continued his unpatriotic ranting on Hannity tonight. Limbaugh told host Sean Hannity that he still wants Obama to fail, and America’s success is based on Obama’s failure.
In a speech yesterday at the Heartland Institute, Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK) laid out the GOP strategy for dealing with the potential EPA regulation of greenhouse gasses. Inhofe said that Republicans plan to stall until they get a new president, which means that Republicans might be willing to stall for the next seven and a half years.

On his radio show today, Rush Limbaugh executed a near flip flop on Obama Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor. Limbaugh said, “If Sotomayor is a pro-life racist, I may have to change my view.”Rush’s position now is that the real issue isn’t racism. It is abortion. Yesterday Rep. Todd Akin (R-MO) argued on the House floor yesterday that legislation to limit CO2 emissions would cause the seasons to stop changing. Aiken confused climate and weather, and he argued that seasonal change from winter to spring was, “good climate change.” He also asked why the government would want to run the weather.
Dr. Warren Hern, who is one of the last doctors in the United States who performs late terms abortions, was on MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show, where he said that the American anti-abortion movement is made up fanatics, and the only thing that separates them from the Taliban is 8,000 miles. There is something interesting in the latest CNN/Opinion Research poll. Beyond finding that there is no current GOP favorite for the 2012 nomination, the poll also contained favorability ratings for notable national Republicans at the top of the list were moderates Colin Powell and John McCain. At the bottom were Rush Limbaugh and Michael Steele.
In a startling bit of racism, Manuel Miranda, a former aide to Republican Sen. Bill Frist told conservative bloggers that, “We aren’t like African Americans. We think like everyone else.” This begs the question, for Mr. Miranda how do African Americans think differently from everyone else? I’d love an explanation.
Today on his radio show Rush Limbaugh claimed that Barack Obama bitched slapped and whipped the auto industry into accepting CAFE standards. He also claimed that Obama may ban people from buying Hummers. That bully Obama is trying to get the automakers to produce cars that people might actually buy, gasp!!!
Glenn Beck railed against those who are blaming Bill O’Reilly for the murder of abortion doctor George Tiller, and those who are blaming Keith Olbermann for the Army recruiter shootings in Arkansas. Beck said that it is an intellectually dishonest argument to blame either of them. The only people responsible are those who pulled the triggers.
Despite the fact that Gov. Ed Rendell has been in the media bellowing and warning Rep. Joe Sestak not to challenge Sen. Arlen Specter in next year’s Pennsylvania U.S. Senate primary, a new poll released today by Susquehanna Polling & Research finds that 63% say that Specter should face a primary challenger.
On his MSNBC program Countdown host Keith Olbermann laid the responsibility for the murder of Dr. George Tiller at the feet of Bill O’Reilly and Fox News. Olbermann said that Fox News incites murder and terrorism, and must be stopped.
On his Fox News show The Factor, Bill O’Reilly confessed that when he heard the news about the murder of Dr. George Tiller, his first thoughts were about himself and Fox News, I knew pro-abortion zealots and Fox News haters would attempt to blame us for the crime.” O’Reilly also continued to attack dead Tiller.
On his Fox News show today, host Glenn Beck and guest Jonah Goldberg compared GM bankruptcy to the Nazi government’s creation of Volkswagon. Goldberg made the claim that GM’s bankruptcy is all part of Obama’s central plan. The option he advocated was to allow the automakers to fail, which would have turned the recession into a depression, but Beck and company didn’t consider that.
While speaking at the National Press Club today, former vice president Dick Cheney, passed blame for 9/11 away from the Bush administration and on to former counterterrorism chief Richard Clarke. Cheney said, Dick Clarke, who was the head of the counterrorism program in the run-up to 9/11. He obviously missed it.”
On Friday Rush Limbaugh compared Obama Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor to white supremacist and former KKK member David Duke. Of course, this outraged Duke who claimed that Sotomayor is the real racist.
On Sunday morning late term abortion provider Dr. George Tiller was gunned down while he served as an usher at church in Wichita, KS. While several anti-abortion groups have expressed their shock and dismay over Tiller’s murder, others such as Operation Rescue founder Randall Terry, and Operation Save America have blamed Tiller for causing his own death.
