Today on his radio show Rush Limbaugh a perfect example of why bipartisanship is dead in the United States. Limbaugh claimed that Obama’s back to school speech to school children about personal responsibility was a “trick and a scam, and a joke.” The real joke is that Rush would continue to rail against such a harmless speech.

Limbaugh said, “We need a trillion dollars because Obama wants there to be no personal responsibility, except, well he is not even going to allow personal responsibility in your lifestyle. You are going to have that dictated to you too. That’s what this is all about is trying to get as much power over every aspect of every individual’s life as possible. That’s who the guy is. That’s why the speech today to the kids about personal responsibility it’s a trick. It’s a scam. It’s a joke.”

It is not like Republicans ever want to control aspects of an individual’s life. From their desire to ban abortion, to their dreams of a constitutional amendment banning same sex marriage, Republicans are always trying to control elements of an individual’s lifestyle. Limbaugh also manages to ignore the fact that Obama has been preaching personal responsibility for years.

Limbaugh’s argument boils down to the president said all of the right things, but he didn’t believe them. Obama is trying to trick us into believing that he is something that he really isn’t. The truth is that Obama isn’t the radical leftist that Limbaugh makes him out to be. In essence, Limbaugh is saying that he would have praised the same speech if it was given by a Republican, but since Obama said it, it must be a lie.
