The World Health Organization just released appalling statistics on domestic violence against women. The ten country study included: Bangladesh, Brazil, Ethiopia, Japan, Peru, Namibia, Samoa, Serbia and Montenegro, Thailand and the United Republic of Tanzania. The report concludes that violence against women is widespread. Amnesty International is urging Americans to support the International Violence Against Women Act in response to these horrifying statistics.
Sarah Palin: Tear Down This Wall! Palin lives in fear of exposure and has been known even as a Mayor for her press black-outs, obstruction of transparency and lack of accountability to the people. The emails just released to the AP under a FOIA request after a year and a half are a perfect example of Palin’s obstructionism.
A brand new Obama/oil leak conspiracy theory is making the rounds courtesy of Fox News and Fox Business. The network is alleging that Obama intentionally let the oil leak so that he could ban offshore drilling. Eric Bolling said, “Are you sure they didn’t let it leak so he could renege on his promise to, to, to allow some offshore drilling?”
On his MSNBC program Countdown, Keith Olbermann, while discussing Sarah Palin’s latest paranoid freak out over getting a new next door neighbor in Joe McGinnis mentioned that what Palin considers the family “swimming hole” is really a 350 acre lake, with public access, because you know all real Americans have a lake in the back yard for swimming.
Fox News issued a warning and a thinly veiled threat to investigative journalist and author Joe McGinniss, who is writing a book about Sarah Palin, Alaska, and the oil industry. On Fox and Friends today, Steve Doocy said, “Mr. McGinniss if you’re watching right now, I would be very careful wearing hats out there because in the wrong hat, in the wrong light, could appear to be antlers.”
The latest CBS News poll contained some interesting information about who supports the Tea Party movement. Contrary to what Tea Partiers claim, their movement is not bi-partisan. Of the 20% who considered themselves Tea Party supporters, 36% were Republicans, 18% were Independents, and only 2% were Democrats, so much for that organic bi-partisan movement to take back America. The Tea Party is really nothing more than the same old white Republicans.
Sarah Palin took to her Facebook page to defend yet another persecuted Christian (aka, Tea Party favorite) in South Carolina, Nikki Haley. Haley is the front-runner in the Republican primary for Governor of South Carolina and she has been accused of having an affair with a staffer by said staffer who recently announced the affair on his blog. In reality, this isn’t persecution, this is politics.
On Fox News tonight, Bill O’Reilly took up Sarah Palin’s latest conspiracy theory that Obama is more worried about campaign cash then cleaning up BP’s mess. Not surprisingly, O’Reilly disagreed with Palin, and said, “Oil companies give big time money to both parties…John McCain got a lot of money from oil companies. Sarah Palin gets money from oil companies.”
Disgraced former Congressman Eric Massa, of the infamous Glenn Beck interview, is back again with a new charge that Dick Cheney is engaged in treasonous activity by hatching a conspiracy to get Gen. David Petraeus elected president in 2012 as a Republican. Massa told Esquire, “we would be witness to an American coup d’état.” Petraeus denies it, and Cheney is not talking.
Sarah Palin was speaking last night in Las Vegas, Nevada, headlining the annual shopping center convention. But it was the environmental protesters dismayed by Palin’s continued support of off -shore drilling lined up outside of the convention hall where Palin was speaking that drew the attention.
Texas, to its shame, by rewriting textbooks, might embrace a mythic America, but that America never existed, and it does not exist, and cannot exist as long as there are people who value our history for what it is, a record not of wishful thinking, but of the past. In the end, what Texas has done does not balance the past; it steals it.
Sarah Palin, the Drill Baby Drill poster girl and someone whose PAC contributions read like a who’s who in the oil business, had the gall this morning on Fox News Sunday to accuse Obama of not doing his job because he is in bed with big oil. Palin says she went after BP as Governor of Alaska and President Obama should, too, but White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs set Palin straight.
Sarah Palin was on Fox News Sunday today and when asked about Rand Paul’s comments on the Civil Rights Act, she blamed the media, specifically Rachel Maddow. Palin said, “Being able to engage in a discussion with a TV character media a media personality who perhaps had an agenda in answering the question and interpreting his answer as she did.”
Everywhere I go, Liberals are griping about the President, carrying water for the GOP again. Liberals want Obama to “FIX” the BP spill. He should have “taken over”, he should have “done more”. Beware the lazy intellectualism of the pseudo elite liberal, because it’s much more cool to reproach scornfully from above than it is to tell the nerdy truth. The nerdy truth is that the law prevents the government from just taking over. The nerdy truth is this sucks and there is no way to fix it now.
With the BP oil spill still raging after a month of disinformation and stonewalling from both BP and the Obama Administration as well as the catastrophe of the Massey coal mine explosion just two weeks prior to the BP Gulf disaster, the left and right are playing their trite and expected “blame game” without acknowledging the actual systemic realities of a Government that enables BP and Massey to rape and plunder the earth for the sake of profit at the expense of the environment and human life.
Today Fox News provided more evidence for why the odious relationship between the right wing media and gold sellers deserves some serious investigation. Despite endless shilling from Glenn Beck, it seems that even Fox doesn’t know if gold is a safe investment. Over the course of two different programs Fox said that gold will collapsed but also promised a 30% increase. Way to play both sides, Fox News.
While on his book tour Karl Rove continues to revise the history of both George W. Bush and himself. While in Oklahoma City, Rove said that Bush would never allow him, “to engage in calling the leaders of the opposition party disparaging labels and question their motives.” This is yet another lie from Rove, who is on the outside looking in, and desperate for a comeback.
After a humiliating stint on the Rachel Maddow show wherein Kentucky Republican Senate candidate Rand Paul demonstrated a special talent in the art of the duck and dodge, Paul continued to Palinize himself the next day — wrapping himself in indignation, in order to mask his own deep inadequacy and lack of preparation for the important office he seeks.
By any standard Republican Kentucky Senate nominee Rand Paul has had a terrible week. He followed up winning the GOP nomination on Tuesday with a disastrous appearance on the Rachel Maddow Show, which he followed up with an even worse appearance on ABC’s Good Morning America where he defended BP and the oil spill. Most telling is the way that his Tea Party backers, including Sarah Palin have remained silent on his comments.
Sarah Palin took to her Facebook page to blast the Obama administration for dividing the country on the issue of immigration reform. Palin continued to defend the AZ law, and then added this nugget, “They can also criticize bills (and divide the country with ensuing rhetoric) without actually reading them.” All the while Palin is traveling across America dividing the GOP on the immigration issue.
