Birther Trent Franks Defends Sarah Palin and by extention, himself
The Perfidy of Trent Franks
Rep. Trent Franks of Arizona has been busy protecting Sarah Palin from reality since her blood libel attack in response to the Arizona massacre. Naturally, he does this to cover his own behind.
Politico reported:
“If every person in the world was like Sarah Palin, there probably wouldn’t even be need for government because no one would be in danger of any kind. If every person were like Sarah Palin, this world would be a peaceful, beautiful world to live in…. If Sarah Palin has one hallmark, it is her commitment to protect and defend all innocent human life — this is something that would be so counter to the core philosophy that she has,” Franks said, adding that suggestions that Palin “had something to do with it” was an “utter distortion.”
Sadly, pro-life does not include humans other than unborn babies, but Palin has also been criticized by pro-lifers for not being a real pro-lifer so maybe Franks should have done a bit of research.
Upset that Palin appointed a former Planned Parenthood board member to the Alaska Supreme Court (conservatives really have no idea how Palin governed in Alaska), Prolife Profiles reported on this and the very next day, SarahPAC scrubbed the information from their website. By the way, Prolife Profiles doesn’t give Palin a high rating and in fact, suggest that she thinks some kids should be “killed”.
Prolife Profiles reports:
“SarahPAC took down this information; ProlifeProfiles put it back up. Welcome to the end of child killing in our lifetime. If you throw a rock into a pack of dogs, the one that yelps, got hit. SarahPAC removed their report of Palin’s appointment showing that they realize how incriminating this information is. Sarah Palin should have released a humble apology, but instead she tries a cover-up. While National RTL and the pro-life industry continue to allow the Body of Christ to be deceived into thinking that Sarah is 100% pro-life. But she cannot hide her record from God, nor from the public. Please pray that Sarah will apologize to the children of Alaska, specifically those who have been dismembered since March 4, 2009, for appointing an “outstanding” unrepentant child killer. ”
Scrubbing websites and covering up incriminating evidence? Some things never change.
Representative Franks is trying to sell the “pit bull” as a peace loving person. But then, this is the man who also said, “I wish there had been one more gun there that day in the hands of a responsible person, that’s all I have to say,” in response to a question on gun control after the Arizona massacre.
And of course, there was a gun in the hands of a responsible person, but he almost shot the hero in the Arizona shooting by accident because the hero was holding the gun, having wrestled it from the shooter. Contrary to many swaggering cowboy notions of vigilante justice, there’s a lot of training that goes into learning to deal with crisis situations. The military, for example, has complex training programs that teach soldiers how to determine who is the bad guy and who isn’t in a split second. They also take classes on the escalation of engagement rules. So, a well meaning citizen is not equivalent to a well-trained law enforcement officer.
And this at How to Take Back America:
“Obama’s first act as president of any consequence, in the middle of a financial meltdown, was to send taxpayers’ money overseas to pay for the killing of unborn children in other countries…there’s almost nothing that you should be surprised at after that. We shouldn’t be shocked that he does all these other insane things. A president that has lost his way that badly, that has no ability to see the image of God in these little fellow human beings, if he can’t do that right, then he has no place in any station of government and we need to realize that he is an enemy of humanity.“
And on the floor he suggests Obama Has An “Idealogical Commitment To “Weaken America“:
And in 2009 at a town hall meeting with constituents, Rep. Trent Franks went birther, “The ironic part about this is I was one of the few Members of Congress that was willing, if I could come up with a way to prove that Barack Obama was not born in this country, I was willing to go into a lawsuit. I don’t know of any other Member of Congress who was willing to do that, because I wanted to make sure that we were protecting both the Constitution and, quite frankly, I was terrified of this guy.”
No, see, it’s not OK to talk like this about your political opposition when you’re an elected official. It’s not OK to talk like this about your President when you’re an elected official or a political leader. And as for Palin having nothing to do with the shooting because the shooter was mentally ill, here’s a common sense clue: The mentally ill listen to TV and radio. They read blogs. They are ripe absorbers of the kind of paranoid vitriol that Representative Franks and his pal Sarah Palin peddle. They don’t have the mental capacity to understand that the conservatives don’t mean what they say and naturally, believing them, they get upset, disturbed, and some can even feel called to action. In other words, the constant fear and terror Republicans are selling is a dog whistle for the mentally ill.
Point in case, the Arizona shooter called a girl who got an abortion a “terrorist”. Now where’d he get an idea like that? Naturally not from peace loving Sarah Palin or Representative Franks who called Obama a baby-killer.
But the real question is, why do conservatives feel the need to consistently employ such incendiary, inaccurate, misleading language? Are they, in fact, incapable of selling their ideas without painting the opposition as a treasonous devil?
They have no shame and without shame, there’s no stopping how low they will go. Of course, the real reason Franks is defending Sarah Palin is because he knows he is guilty of the same kind of behavior.

Bottom line I will approach the elephant in the room. Palin brings this on herself. Not gunsights on the map? It’s surveyor’s symbols? Ummm… right. Wonderful lie. But the problem is this… it’s a lie that everyone knows is a lie. I can say: ” Oh those were surveryor’s symbols” over Sarah Palin’s face. I think we should hire a professional “surveyor” and ” survey” her down in the street. A lie is a lie. She won’t own up to anything. This is a woman who calls anyone with intelligence, practice, and a job track record… “an elitist” so she can make stupidity a viable option for the highest office in the land. Like clone Christine O’Donnell” I’m not a witch… I’m you!” This is someone who calls highly trained journalist’s “lamestream media” because they won’t edit her mangled backwards speak into something sensible. This is someone who attacks historical figures, Kennedy, Reagan, Bush, if their philosphy didn’t agree with her bizarre religious cultish beliefs. This is someone who takes political rhetoric into a sexual gutter by calling people who don’t agree with her as “limp or impotent” or that they need to “man-up’. This is a woman who will attack everyone and call it legitimate, but if anyone attacks her, she is a ‘victim’ and she will spend many precious and endless moments whining about it. This is a woman who can take everything.. everything… and anyone.. and broadstroke a paintbrush of ugly on it and them to try to make herself look good.
I can’t think of anyone.. anyone in all my years of being alive and witnessing the political spectrum of politics ,(40 years plus), who embodies such a “redneck trailer trash” attitude of trying to say that a dumbass belongs in the White House because that reflects the “norm’ of who we are in this country. This is an individual who strips every notion that our President should be a person of intellect and respectability that the world would respond to with a sense of honor… down to a level of a media-grasping, vainglorious fame-prostitute who would dip to nut-sucking a drunk in alley if it would get her what she wanted. That.. is not.. and never will be… Presidential material…

Thank you for addressing this issue, Sarah. No one better. To see such words uttered about anyone would strike me as mere hyperbole. But to see them spoken of Sarah Palin jerks me upright in my seat, speechless. It makes you wonder what Franks is inhaling. I’m uncertain if Franks admires her or worships her. I suspect you are right about Franks’ motives.
An ideologically acceptable person cannot be attacked. I wonder how in 2012 they will even campaign against one another because they will be put in the position of having to attack positions which they themselves agree on just to make the other person seem less pure.
We have somehow gotten past the idea that people can simply disagree with one another – have different but possibly equally valid viewpoints. Even a vehement disagreement does not infer that the other view must be demonized, but the Republican Party and its members (including especially the Tea Party) seems unable to separate the two. It isn’t enough to simply say, “I disagree, and here is why”; if the other guy doesn’t agree with them, he is evil, trying to destroy America.

You know; this is just idle speculation. But I’ve been pondering…
Loughner was described by his high school friend as a “liberal.” High School would have been during the Bush presidency, where liberals were the outspoken, “GW is a LYING, WARMONGERING IDIOTIC DEVIL!” side.
But currently his views seem to coincide sharply with Social Conservatives, during the Obama presidency, where the Far Right are screaming “OMG OBAMA IS HITLER HIDE YOUR CHILDREN SOCIAL CLEANSING DEATH PANELS SOCIALISM MARXIST NAZI PIG!”
I’m wondering… and I’m probably not right here…
But I’m thinking Loughner was not attracted by the ideals touted by both sides. I think he was attracted more to the tone these came across as; the emotions they evoked. The fear and the paranoia. Basically; I think he wasn’t attracted the the message; these ideals did not speak to Loughner.
The fearmongering did.

Now if this gun-toting fool had kept his cool he could have followed in Michele Bachmann’s footsteps:
The Minnesota congresswoman was apparently a liberal, until she read “Burr”
