For those who thought the battle had ended when Gov. Scott Walker and his Republican co-conspirators illegally rammed their union busting provisions through the Wisconsin state legislature, think again. In two weeks, Democrats have collected almost half of the signatures required to force recall elections for the eight eligible Republican senators. Gov. Walker, this is your future.

As soon as Republicans unveiled their legislative parlor trick and pushed the union busting legislation through, the mainstream media, you know the same folks who couldn’t take their eyes off Charlie Sheen long enough to cover a real news story, treated this story as wrapped up and finished. The media may think this is done, but somebody forgot to tell the people of Wisconsin, because they are gearing up to right one of the great wrongs ever committed against a people by those who took an oath to represent them.

Democrats have fought back, and have collected almost half of the signatures needed to force 8 Republican senators to face recall elections. According to the Washington Post’s Greg Sargent, “Dems have now collected over 56,000 signatures supporting the recall drives, according to party spokesman Graeme Zielinski, after another surge in organizing activity over the weekend. That’s up from roughly 14,000 after last weekend. This means Dems are well ahead of schedule: In each targeted district, Dems need to amass the required signatures — 25 percent of the number who voted in the last gubernatorial election — by a deadline of 60 days after first filing for recalls, which happened nearly two weeks ago.”

The anger over what Walker and the Republicans have done to collective bargaining in Wisconsin is gaining steam. Gov. Walker mistakenly assumed that once he “won” and stripped collective bargaining rights from public sector employees this would be over, everyone would go home, and it would be business as usual in Madison. He was wrong.

Governor Walker and the Republicans didn’t just unleash a protest. Their actions have given birth to a once in a generation movement. This may have begun as to collective bargaining rights issue, but it has grown into a guerrilla war to retake control of our democracy. This is a public outcry born of stock market crashes, economic collapses, decades of tax cuts for the few whose costs were strapped to the backs of the many. It is a retaliatory strike against the economic parasites at the top that suck the life out of hard working Americans who want nothing more than a home, a job, a living wage, the ability to see a doctor when they get sick, and good schools for their kids.

To the rest of us, these men and the politicians they subsidize are economic leeches who take from those who can’t afford to give, and release anguished wails of protest when it is mildly suggested that they should contribute their fair share. Republicans, not just in Wisconsin, thought that the great American conscious would stay sleeping, but the pained pleas of our fellow citizens at the hands of their corporate abusers disguised as patriots have become a battle cry in our ears.

There is a freight train coming for the eight Republican Wisconsin senators who celebrated their victory in the stealth of night with the blood from the murder of human rights still on their hands. They can’t stop this locomotive. It’s fueled by liberty, and universal human desire for freedom and justice. Its speed is increasing, Its power is growing, and the journey will not be complete until democracy has been restored to its rightful owners.

In the tradition of our Founding Fathers, this is a rebellion against tyranny. Like the brave patriots who declared their independence on July 4, 1776, we are engaged in a battle for their basic rights. These eight Wisconsin Republicans and Gov. Walker’s inevitable recall will serve as a warning of the consequences that will befall any Republican and corporate masters who attempt to drain this great land of her freedoms.

The revolution began in Madison, but it will be won in all of America.
