Awesome news! Now I hope we hammer that issue all the way through 2012 since the GOP voted as a block in favor of dismantling Medicare!

. Dear Paul Ryan,
In reading about your prosperity plan and noting you are from Wisconsin, I am astonished to see you characterize your plan as breaking from the past. Breaking unions means a return to the 19th century when employers could pay their employees as little as they wanted to, without regard for whether it was a livable wage or not. Do you know of some other form of recourse for this inequity besides unions? I am curious to hear.
I’m also rather surprised that when you talk about cutting government spending you mention Medicare first. You say nothing about two wars that have gone on for almost a decade, financed by loans from China, nor about a military establishment that is funded by more than the militaries of the rest of the world combined. Surely, when speaking of cutting spending, this is the place to start.
I’m also disappointed that you are preventing the wealthy from showing their patriotism by paying more taxes. They are certainly the ones that can afford it best (allow me to refer you to a recent article in Rolling Stone magazine about the depths that bailouts have reached), and I’m sure they would be proud to do their part.
Speaking of bailouts, that’s certainly the next place we ought to go in cuts. Republicans have been against socialism for quite a long time, as I understand it, so they should surely have no problem with enacting legislation to stop any bailouts currently going on and to prohibit any in the future. They should also have no problem with legislation to keep their profits and the jobs they’ve created in this country. Such legislation will reduce unemployment and create a larger tax base, enabling us to eventually rescind any tax increases enacted now. I would expect their patriotism would encourage them to forego any government subsidies they may be receiving as well.
Thank you for your work to cut frivolous spending in Washington and elsewhere, and I hope you will keep my suggestions in mind to make your work in this area as substantive as possible.

Lots to this, like the GOP spent lots of money trying to advertise against Pelosi instead of on their candidate.
The republicans have to go. Have to.

They did the same thing here in my district in Middle GA, too, Shiva, and Nathan Deal did the same thing to win the governorship. The campaign ads were filled with lies and misinformation about Pelosi, Reid, and Obama. They flooded the airwaves with them. My jackazzz of a Bluedog would have been re-elected if he hadn’t run away as fast as he could from President Obama. Around 56% of the district is composed of people of color. We were just fed up with him not supporting policies that would have helped all Americans. His town halls were like those you would think Boehner, Peter King, or Louie Gohmert would host, full of rw talking points. The district didn’t sell him out. He sold us out. I held my nose and voted for him, but the majority of the democrats here didn’t. I spoke with many of them at the local Democratic Party Headquarters, and no matter their race, sexual orientation, or religion, they were done with his pandering to Big Oil and Big Business and with his voting with the republicans on the stimulus, HCR, and financial reform. The election of Obama made very clear that he said some kind of “problem” with him because of the disparaging comments he would make about him in his town halls. I sent him several emails, and in the last one I told him he’d lose in 2010 if he continued to vote against the interests of his supporters. He did what the republicans do: he ignored us. He paid for it in November 2010. A Tea Party supported republican now holds his seat in Congress.

No amount of corrupt corporate money can whitewash what the Republicans are doing. The backlash has begun.

As Dr. King was fond of saying: “No Lie Can live Forever!” Finally, people are beginning to wake up. No amount of money and sleek ads. telling lies could overcome the truth that the Ryan plan was all about ending Medicare/Medicaid programs.

This is poetic justice at its best. Paul Ryan and the rest of the fools who co-signed his plan may blame the Tea Partier Davis. But the election results proved that they failed to sell NY 26 folks on the idea that the crap they were trying to sell doesn’t stink. I don’t feel the slightest bit of sympathy because what would have happened otherwise would have given them the green light to strengthen their efforts to gut Medicare.
