On the Tonight Show, Bill Maher called out Sarah Palin for calling him a coward and said that he would meet her anywhere and talk to her.

Leno asked Maher about Palin and he answered, “You know, why does everybody ask me this question? Everywhere I go people say to me, is Palin going to get in. What am I, the idiot whisperer? How do I know what this daffy broad is going to do from one minute to the next?…What I don’t like about her is that she calls me a coward. I’ll meet her anywhere. She won’t talk to me. I understand why, because I might ask her a real question.
Remember, she couldn’t handle Katie Couric? Was too much of a hardballer for her. Katie Couric who asked the gotcha question. Remember what the gotcha question was? What do you read? That was the gotcha question. It’s a notch above how are you.
The Maher/Palin spring/summer feud has quite a nasty history, but while others in the media and late night talk show hosts (David Letterman) have backed down when confronted with Palin’s attacks, he has not backed down from her. In fact, Bill Maher is calling her out. Sarah Palin found playing the victim, accusing anyone who criticizes her of pedophilia, and reinforcing conservative stereotypes is a lucrative cottage industry. (It is such a lucrative pursuit that Newt Gingrich has started to horn in on her territory during the last two GOP debates).
Bill Maher is right. Sarah Palin is a coward, and the odds that she will ever sit down and talk to him are approximately zero. The context of how Palin was mentioned on The Tonight Show is also telling. She wasn’t in the first segment. She wasn’t spoken about as a Republican contender. Palin was banished to the second half of the interview, and mentioned as part of a celebrity feud.
Finally, one television show has managed to put Sarah Palin in the proper context. Sadly, it wasn’t a cable news network or a major newspaper. It was Jay Leno’s stale chuckle fest that got Sarah Palin right. Bill Maher has Sarah Palin all figured out, which is why she won’t come within a thousand miles of ever interacting with Maher.

I dunno… There are many effective leaders who would get slaughtered going up against a talk show host or comedian… It’s a sad state of affairs that public relations is so much of getting the job as opposed to winning it through service…

Let’s see now. She calls him a coward openly yet refuses to meet him? He’s right – the “gotcha question” was what do you read? She couldn’t answer it (evidently she had forgotten the reminder sharpie so she could draw on her hand. “What newspapers do you read” is NOT a gotcha question. In fact I will bet that if I asked you what blogs do you read, you could say “Politicususa” right?
She is a total walking psychotic freakshow.
And Bill Maher is right – he is NOT The Idiot Whisperer. He is however, very very smart. Palin has shown us for the last 3 years that she needs to charge her brain batteries when she pulls out of her depression phases which appear to be lasting longer as time goes on. She knows she is at her best when she is manic – but she is still stupid.

Maher, Rachel, Ed, Larry…she won’t talk to anyone who might pin her down on what she would do to create jobs. What she would do about Iran and N. Korea. What she would do about all the homeless families in this nation. How she would help returning, mentally ill vets who are living under bridges. There
are so many, many problems, and she can only rant about how awful the administration is because they don’t further lower HER taxes. When will the minions figure out that she was a millionaire elite long before they knew her name in 2008?

I have always been very curious how the Palin obtained all of their personal “toys” – hunting lodges – lake property – airplane – on their salaries. The newly built home which strangely resembles the Sports Complex in Wasilla down to the windows? Their “lodges” where they paid taxes on vacant lots ??? WHERE have they gotten their money? Prior to 2008, the Palins did not pull down huge salaries – he was on the Slope and also Fishing. She was a local executive. Yet they somehome amassed literally millions of dollars worth of homes, property, land???
She was “dirty” before McCain tapped her. She’s got some HUGE tax issues and I bet someone’s knowing it and investigating the Palins taxes.

I do know that I read their house on the lake in Alaska was built on tax money. Supposedly when she insisted on the money sucking sports center she had them build her lake house at tax payer expense.

I recently attended Bill Maher’s appearance in the small So OR town where I live. Sadly, this area is the more ‘right’ leaning/voting sector of the State. At first I was stressed out that there wouldn’t be a sold out concert but I was so wrong!! The crowd loved him and as I was reassured that there is a very large and vocal liberal base in my city after all. When he got to the Palin/Bachmann portion of his routine, the crowd was roaring with laughter and whistles. The crowd appeared to be the more affluent, educated and politically involved segment of this community and the concert ended with a heartfelt standing ‘O’.
A couple years ago the Teapers tried to assemble a little gathering during the months Mrs P was on a tear with her $100K screeches. My friend and I drove by and counted far less than 100 people, many of them children, standing in the parking lot of a closed strip mall. Apparently even the Republicans in this area don’t publicly align with the far-out TP agenda. She did make one of her lucrative visits to Eugene OR but they ended up having to bus folks in to partially fill the venue and a crowd of protesters were kept at bay to protect her royal high-ass.
