By trying to defend the Fox News smear campaign against Occupy Wall Street as self-defense, Bill O’Reilly accidentally admitted that Fox is waging war on the 99%.
Here is the video from Media Matters:
The real nugget amongst all of the usual Fox News smears against Occupy Wall Street was Bill O’Reilly trying to justify their attacks. O’Reilly said, “I’m an Independent, alright and I looked at this group in the beginning and gave them a shot, and wanted to know what they are all about, but once they started to attack our personnel here, including John Stossel and Geraldo and all of that. I said you know what? I don’t want any part of these people. I guarantee you 90%, 90% of Independent Americans want to say the same thing. We don’t like them. We don’t trust them. We think they’re radicals, and if anybody throws in with them, we are going to vote against that anybody.”
Watch what happened when Geraldo decided to broadcast live from Liberty Plaza:
When Gerald tried to talk to the crowd he got a nice F-bomb for his trouble:
O’Reilly’s was trying to make Fox News the victim, and thus provide justification for his network’s daily smear campaign against Occupy Wall Street. The problem with O’Reilly’s defense is that he has been attacking Occupying Wall Street for weeks prior to the Geraldo incident.
Here is O’Reilly on October 18:
Bill-o on October 6:
This attempt to play the victim was a set up by Fox News. Rivera went to Liberty Plaza knowing what kind of reaction Fox News would get. They got the reaction that they wanted from the crowd, which allowed Bill O’Reilly to go on the air and smear the 99% while at the same time claiming self-defense.
The most interesting thing about O’Reilly’s remarks is that he indirectly admitted that Fox News is engaged in a smear campaign against Occupy Wall Street. O’Reilly started out by talking about himself as an Independent, but he slipped in a reference to our personnel here, and made the issue us versus them. Notice how O’Reilly tried to lead his audience after he claimed that his Fox News colleagues were attacked? This is all part of the Fox News campaign to destroy Occupy Wall Street.
Fox News is at war with Occupy Wall Street. They consider this a battle. O’Reilly can try to spin it all he wants, but Fox News is losing.
Fox News isn’t just smearing the left when they attack Occupy Wall Street. They are insulting the left, right, and middle. In their fantasy, Occupy Wall Street is only a movement of the left, but the reality is that there are people of all shapes, sizes, colors, backgrounds, ages, and political beliefs taking part in these protests, and Fox News has declared them all to be the enemy.
Anonymous has called Fox News a propaganda organization, and vowed to shut them down, but FNC is more than propaganda. Fox News is the voice of the one percent. They are the mainstream media troops who are trying to silence the 99%. One percenters like Bill O’Reilly are afraid of Occupy Wall Street, so they are using all their power to try to destroy it.
Occupy Wall Street is not only a threat to Wall Street. It is also a threat to media giants who make their money by feeding the American people an anesthetic of misinformation and fear. News Corp is the most powerful media company in the world, but they are being defeated because the 99% has had enough.

Using your constitutional right to assembly in a peaceful non-violent makes you a radical (as long as Fox News disagrees.) Interesting thought there, Bill.
Also, 90% of Independents (totally not a made up figure,) don’t believe you’re an Independent, Mr. O’Reilly.

Ok since hundreds of people have been arrested for crimes during this Occupy Wall Street movement (and yes some violently) I don’t think it is unfair to call those people radicals and the only person making the leap from non-violent assembler to radical is you not Bill O’Reilly. I also believe that Mr. O’Reilly is a registered Independent and although he may lean more right than left, that doesn’t change what he is actually registered at so try some thinking before you just spout off nonsense.

He doesn’t seem to lean right. He seems to fall over right–propagandist with all the others–they are all trying to be the next Gobbels but I think Rush is tying that up.

First of all, O’Reilly specifically used the term “radical” in reference to the OWS protesters. Secondly, you are badly misinformed about the arrests. The majority have been for misdemeanors. Arrests have been for failing to take down a tent, or refusing to stand alert while holding ones umbrella in rainy weather. Hardly sounds violent or radical to me. Remember that the protests take place across the globe, and have been active for roughly a month without a single soul being physically assaulted by protesters in the US. In fact, the highest goal of the protesters is to affect change without violence, as is the Kingian philosophy.
Leave your house once in a while, you’ll be surprised at the world you find outside the idiot box.
(By the bye, with regard to O’Reilly’s political stance, it’s called a lie. It’s easier to do than you’d think.)

…”Ok since hundreds of people have been arrested for crimes during this Occupy Wall Street movement…”
Oh surely you jest, Doobie-doo! Crimes? As in being in a public park after 6 pm, raising you “voice” on public land, locking arms with others and marching peacefully…you’ve been reading “1984″, not the actual news reports. Any out-burst that have occurred has been under the radar and usually attributed to the acts of individuals who were there with intent to disturb the peaces, as in plants or punks…you lie, white guy.
Those arrested are rarely charged and being released within hour or so right after. There is no are no criminal acts unless you listen to the 1%. No riots, windows broken, cars set on fire, head bashing of Wall St. exec-u-grunts…you can only link to the one or two arrest that were off the wall but that won’t change the fact that peaceful occupiers are doing well, arrest or no arrest.

I believe Fox News keeps going down there (OWS) on purpose, hoping to be attacked. Just like a lot of Republicans want the economy to tank, so they can blame Obama, Fox wants to get attacked so they can gloat. These people are really sick.

Bill O’Reilly debate strategy: Water down the evidence against the conservatives, blow up the evidence against the liberals, then don’t let anyone have a word in to argue, and if they do get a word in attack their argument with whatever means necessary to make them seem stupid.

This announcer man, you ‘Mar’rekans’ call O’Reilly, cannot stifle his mystification as he recognizes, for Fox Masses, that these decadent devious 999′ers, to which he speaks of like 99 cent hot dog, are only there to trample rights of Central Committee Propaganda Ministry of Fox Truth!
Of course, when “Glorious Sheepulls of “Rrrepublic of Teabaggia” marched as armed comrades in lockstep, that was different! The truth, according to announcer man, O’Rielly, cannot be confirmed nor denied and if he did know, he would deny that whatever he said, if indeed he did, in truth, said nothing as Chairman Allies is always right!

The “Therapist” didn’t understand whats going on. She thinks the 99% are asking for handouts from the rich and that the unemployed are unemployed due to their own fault. The movement is to make the 1% pay their part. The 1% have been getting a free ride, getting their own brand of welfare from the 99%. What do they call it if not welfare?

O’Reilly and the rest of the FAUX new cronies are a bunch of lunatics; they know America is finally waking up to their deceit and lies and want to demonize any prospect of “sanity” and “free speech”. Keep on giving the OWS the media attention they so desperately need and deserve. The “reaL” independent voters can see through the BS.

It is obvious the “therapist” is a practiced actress and trained by Fox “News” – practiced in deception. Of course I have no proof, but Fox “News” is excellent at locating all kinds of “experts” when they need someone in the “scientific” field (climate change) or an “expert” with the most recent poll, etc, etc. to back up their (Fox “News”) lies, misrepresentations and misinformation when there is a need – and there is certainly a need today! Look at eight years of Bush and all of the “support” – everything from continuing the lies of WMD from the Bush administration to the outing of Valery Plane and a whole lot more.

Canada is not “the better for it”. First off, Canada’s law prohibiting dishonesty in broadcast news is spot on and a totally separate issue. You seem pretty bright. I don’t understand how you can rationalize this garbage ( censorship ). This is one area where the U.S.A. is superior to Canada. Of course there is a lot of hate out there, but you have to counter speech with speech in order to have a free exchange of ideas, and in order to protect everyone else’ right to free speech. The ACLU has always understood that there are way too many grey areas and too many things that are open to interpretation for censorship to work in a free society. This is the type of government that liberals usually hate. The kind that intrudes on personal freedoms.
OK I’m off the soap box. By the way, I’ve been in a room full of Republicans ( a lot of my in-laws)when the O’Reilly factor was on, and watched them erupt into side splitting laughter when Billy boy claimed he wasn’t a conservative

So, what you want us to hate the rich?. Communists hate the rich. any kind of hate is wrong. We are commanded to love all, rich and poor, black and white, and no matter if we agree or disagree with what they do. Instead of trying to butt in private companies businesses why don’t each of these protesters learn how to spend less, stop using credit cards and stop complaining.

No one wants you to hate the rich.
And being as you have no idea what the protest is about, you might think twice about posting about it.
But, I will give you a hint. Do you know of the caste system in India? Its a horrible thing that means the rich are rich and there is a huge gap between them and the poor. Right now, the US is ranked 93rd in the civilized world concerning the gap between the rich and the poor. Another item, lat year the income of the very rich went up 300%. The middle class income went up 18%. BTW, the US ranks BELOW India on that scale
The middle class are the job creators when they buy things. When the money is all sucked up into the upper 1% of the country, there will be nop jobs created. Roughly speaking the upper 20% of the population controls almost 80% of the wealth. The distribution of wealth should be 20% wealthy, 60% middle class and 20% poor. THATS what they are protesting. Not the fact that someone is rich
