As Obama Runs For a Second Term Racism Takes Center Stage

You can’t escape the race and racism stories that continue to dominate the recent news cycle. Deadly, hateful, ugly, vicious and vile. The latest racial cause celebre comes from some émigré Englishman named John Derbyshire, best known as a columnist for the respected conservative magazine, National Review. It should be emphasized that Derbyshire was not in the service of National Review when he wrote a column, “The Talk: Nonblack Version.” for a website that isn’t worth mentioning. He was promptly fired (or as they say in Great Britain, ‘sacked’) from his job in legitimate media.

The column was so heavily embossed in racism as to defy rational belief. It was written in response to black men talking with their sons about the Trayvon Martin killing.  Here are snippets of what Derbyshire would tell his son.

• Avoid concentrations of blacks not all known to you personallyStay out of heavily black neighborhoods.

• If planning a trip to a beach or amusement park at some date, find out whether it is likely to be swamped with blacks on that date (neglect of that one got me the closest I have ever gotten to death by gunshot).

Personal Note: Trust me John, I can get you closer to death. Mr. Derbyshire, Mr. Zimmerman; Mr. Zimmerman, Mr. Derbyshire. But I digress.

Back to the KKK seminar…

• Do not attend events likely to draw a lot of blacks.
• If you are at some public event at which the number of blacks suddenly swells, leave as quickly as possible.
• Do not settle in a district or municipality run by black politicians.

•  Before voting for a black politician, scrutinize his/her character much more carefully than you would a white.
• Do not act the Good Samaritan to blacks in apparent distress, e.g., on the highway.

If accosted by a strange black in the street, smile and say something polite but keep moving.

As I track Derbyshire to the top of Mt. Racism, I’m losing oxygen, but I’ll try to persevere to the peak of his odious musings. Be forewarned!

• The mean intelligence of blacks is much lower than for whites. The least intelligent 10% percent of whites have IQs below 81; 40% of blacks have IQs that low. Only 1 black in 6 is more intelligent than the average white; 5 whites out of 6 are more intelligent than the average black.

Can Derbyshire top this? You damn right he can!

• There is a magnifying effect here too, caused by affirmative action. In a pure meritocracy there would be very low proportions of blacks in cognitively demanding jobs.

THERE! John made it to the top of Mt. Racism all wrapped up in his favorite tome, The Bell Curve, its pages dog-eared from repeated readings.

Derbyshire could have come by his racism through his upbringing in Great Britain. He’s 66 years old and could very well have been influenced in his relative youth by the likes of Enoch Powell whose speech “Rivers of Blood” is the most racist rant in the history of political speeches. Like Derbyshire departure from National Review, Powell was fired from his Shadow Cabinet job even as a poll revealed that 74% of Brits agree with him and only 15% disagreed; 11% had no opinion. So it could have been the Powell influence or maybe Derbyshire made his way to ‘Speakers Corner’ in Hyde Park where racist were given free reign to vocally ply their hateful trade. Who knows?

The terribly sad reality is that on conservative websites, the comment sections are filled with defenses of the Derbyshire hate speech. Is America that much of a racist nation? It’s a fact that Barack Obama would never have been elected president without a substantial white vote,  so hopefully, civility, respect and acceptance are still in the majority.

In another firing and yet another development in the Martin case comes a story that could help thwart potential justice for the victim. An NBC producer secretly edited the 911 tape we’re all familiar with that could essentially render the tapes racist slant worthless. George Zimmerman’s statement “he looks black” was a segment of the tape played repeatedly since the killing as an indicator that Zimmerman was indeed a paranoid racial profiler and by extension a racist. The statement appeared to be a stand-alone observation. What was edited out was the 911 dispatcher’s question as to whether the so-called suspicious person was “black, white or Hispanic.”  “He looks black” was in direct response to that question.

On another Zimmerman front, a new lawyer, Hal Uhrig, hints that he might plead ‘Shaken Baby Syndrome’ for his client if the case goes to trial. Claiming Zimmerman’s broken nose and repeated head-bangings on concrete could indeed have placed Zimmerman in fear for his life. The only shaking going on are the millions of reasonable heads shaking in disbelief that someone with a law degree could even consider such an idiotic strategy.

I am persuaded that Zimmerman had no broken nose. An ABC News enhanced video does show two marks, scrapes or whatever you want to call them on his head. If Sanford Fire Rescue had sensed anything remotely serious, he would have been transported. There was not a speck of blood anywhere on Zimmerman’s clothing. That’s what gives lie to the suggestion that he was in mortal danger. No blood. No grass stains on the back of his jacket. Law enforcement must have stopped at a Laundromat before taking Zimmerman to the station. Rolling around in the grass, lying on concrete, bleeding like a stuck pig and you’re spotless?

And this guy may get off scot-free!
