Obama Shows His Class by Stopping Supporters from Booing Romney’s Patriotism
By: Jason EasleyJun. 26th, 2012more from Jason Easley
President Obama showed his class today by not allowing the Atlanta audience for his remarks to boo Mitt Romney.
Here is the video via TPM from C-SPAN:
Transcript via the White House:
THE PRESIDENT: And in this election, all of you have the opportunity to choose between two fundamentally different visions of how you grow America — two fundamentally different visions about who we are as a people and what makes this nation great. On one side you’ve got Mr. Romney and his allies in Congress –
AUDIENCE: Booo –
THE PRESIDENT: Mr. Romney is a patriotic American. He’s got a beautiful family. He’s been very successful in his life. (Audience Laughter.) No, he has. But his basic vision is one in which if wealthy investors like him and folks at the very top are freed up from any kind of regulations, if they are maximizing their profits even if it means polluting more, or offshoring jobs, or avoiding taxes, or busting unions — whatever the strategies — if they’re doing well then everybody else is automatically doing well. That’s their view.
Unfortunately, Mitt Romney lacks any of the decency and character that Barack Obama has exhibited since he appeared on the national scene. Romney has refused to distance himself from birthers like Donald Trump, nut job pedophiles who threaten the president like Ted Nugent, and he won’t even tell his supporters not to heckle the president.
(The fact that Romney supporters have to told to respect the President of the United States is mind blowing enough.)
After years of endless conspiracy theories, allegations, and a torrent of never ending hate speech and propaganda directed at him no one would begrudge the president if got into the mud a little himself, but he never does. President Obama appears to always be aware of his place in history as the first African-American president. Beyond that as president, he understands the example that he is setting for all Americans.
Obama behaves like Americans consistently suggest they want a president to act. Barack Obama is a good family man who works hard, avoids scandal, and has never disrespected the presidency. Yet, all of these reasons are exactly why the right hates him. They can’t stand the fact that this Democratic president does a better job of embodying the office that they view as their birthright.
Mitt Romney may have a private school education and unfathomable wealth, but he will never possess the character of Barack Obama. Money can buy a lot of things, but it can’t buy basic human decency.
If character still means anything, voters will elect President Barack Obama to a second term.

The most underrated prez ever. I’m really concerned with the voter suppression more than anything. The only way they can win is if they steal it. That can’t happen. Now they’re trying to hog tie Eric Holder because he was hot on their trail. The Bastards

Yes, Grasshopper he’s totally “underrated” by those who listen to the profiteering left and the fascist rw propaganda machines which includes major outlets..but, for those of us who are paying attention he is appreciated beyond mere words! Except, I’ve read some who are very eloquent on why they are grateful to be alive during this time in history.

In fact, the hammerheads hate Barack Obama the more because he refutes their idea of what a n***** is “supposed” to be. In the Old South, a black man who was educated, hard-working, successful in business, and a good husband and father was far more at risk of being lynched as a “bad actor” than the stereotypic n***** who shuffled and was shiftless. The most dangerous thing you can do with a hammerhead is prove him wrong.

If anyone Ever deserved to be booed it mittard the will-ard. I will show no respect for that lying piece of sociopatic shit but President Obama is a classy guy and that’s not the way he operates.
You have to see “Made In Hawaii” to understand PObama. It’s still a work in progress, anyway..

Obama positively oozes integrity, respect, and decency. But I am afraid it’s completely wasted on the repukes, who continually accelerate their war against him. I find the repukes very-scary-people-who-will-stop-at-nothing to achieve their goal of getting Nitt into the WH.
Way to put country first, you morons.

It’s a good article, but I believe the comment about President Obama guarding his place in history is wrong. I believe the President is and has always been just a decent human being and not wanting to roll around in the mud just part of who he is. I don’t believe it has anything to with anything beyond what I mentioned.
This is a mistake. Black folk are judged, wholecloth, by the exceptions in their race and not by the rule. It is easier to stereotype the whole, when only a few are the bad seeds. Other races don’t suffer this indignity, as they are judged as individuals based on their own acts and not the acts of others. This is not true for Blacks, unfortunately.
The President is just a decent guy; no more, no less.

I know I would have lost my cool a long time ago if all the stuff the President has had to deal with was flung at me. I think it is his personality to be calm like he is; I can’t picture him flying off the handle at anything, much less the press or the fright wing (no matter how deserving of it they are). It’s who he is.
Romney, who has the nerve to question the President’s leadership, will never say anything to the fright wing about their behavior. He will not come out and say unequivocally that the President is a citizen of the U.S. He wouldn’t even stand up to Rush Limbaugh when he attacked Sandra Fluke. All of the things he’s said show that he is the one lacking in leadership qualities. He cannot lead because even he doesn’t know where the heck he’s going.
It’s in the President’s character to walk softly and carry a big stick. As for Romney’s character, I can only ask: what character?

Actually, I’ve heard he’s been highly rated by nonpartisan historians. I believe they ranked Obama among the top fifteen presidents ever. If he gets a second term, he will no doubt rise up the ladder unlike James K. Polk. In my mind, POLK is the most under rated president we’ve ever had.
