GOP uses Middle East tragedy to try to gain points for Mitt Romney

We all know that the U.S. has been stirring up stuff and manipulating crowds of ‘demonstrators’ in assorted foreign venues for many decades. A relatively recent example was the G.W. Bush administrations’ purchase of Iraqi huckster, Ahmed Chalabi’s “Free Iraq Forces” Militia crowd on the occasion of the symbolic pulling down of a Saddam Hussein statue that just happened to be located across from the hotel where most members of the world press were staying.

It’s not hard to create opposition groups to those leaders and/or dictators who might not snuggle up to Democracy or Christianity or U.S. corporate control. Money is always at the core of our ‘persuasive’ powers. Even PFC’s were carrying around bags with millions to buy off the Iraqi locals.

So why should it be any harder for ex-CIA, Coptic Christians and Evangelicals to whip up frenzied Middle East crowds to destructive and deadly orgies of violence in their opposition to an awesomely offensive movie titled, “Innocence of Muslims”.

A number of names have been attached to “Innocence of Muslims.” Most often mentioned as the alleged filmmaker is, Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, a Coptic Christian on probation after being convicted of bank fraud. Joseph Nasrallah’s name has come up as producer. He’s supposedly part of an outfit called Media for Christ, though there appears to be two organizations of that name. Sam Bacile is ostensibly a pseudonym for the writer and director, while other names, real and imagined, like Klein and Brownell, have emerged as well.

It’s going to take a good long time to piece the purveyors of this horrible and deadly propaganda piece together. Suffice to say, the initial enabler of subsequent events was Gainesville, Florida pastor without portfolio, the gigantically bigoted, Terry Jones, who ran the “Innocence of Muslims” video online as part of a remembrance of 9/11 event. Jones, earlier this year, burned a number of Qu’rans.

You’ve already had a taste of the video in a recent Jason Easley piece. Much of the dialogue looks dubbed. Whoever directed the movie has had some kind of film school training and has probably directed at least one or two Independent films. The angles, extreme long shots, cover shots, close-ups and the like, are all film school 101. There are many scenes (especially in the desert) shot in front of green screens with the background edited in later. File footage is used on occasion and the interiors could have been shot anywhere from Wyoming to Walla Walla. Most of the actors look about as Arabic as Ron Howard.

Shooting the video reportedly took place in California. There is no way this could be a union shoot. Trust me, these are not SAG (Screen Actors Guild) actors. “Innocence of Muslims” could have been shot on the relative cheap. Most estimates appear to be in the $5 million range. Non-SAG talent works for pauper’s wages just to be in a movie. There appear to be no special effects. Location expenses were probably limited to a 2-mile radius. One scene looks like it was shot in a Brownfield locale. Only the first street scene appears to have any authenticity and could possibly have been shot on location (highly doubtful). Most likely, a studio back-lot set that hadn’t been used in decades was utilized. That could still eat up some money, however.

So you’ve got your video and enablers to charge up a crowd. Now what? Somebody has to organize this mob. We’re good at that here in America. Over the last half-century or so, we’ve probably been responsible for thousands of mob-induced deaths all over the world. Mobs incited by both party administrations generally by CIA operatives.

Here’s what you already know. Mitt Romney thinks Iran is the answer to how he lost ten pounds. Foreign policy is completely foreign to the man even though his money has visited more countries than the average Secretary of State. And it’s costing him in public perception. The guy is downright dumb when it comes to foreign affairs. If the race is as tight as pollsters say it is, foreign policy ignorance is virtually impossible to spin Romney out of. So, what do Republican strategists do when their man/woman is in trouble? They distort and distract!

And few things are more distracting (and tragic) than decent Americans giving their lives to a howling mob in a far-away country. Chris Stevens, the highly respected and accomplished Ambassador to Libya, gave his life to such a mob at the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, as did 3 other Americans in that diplomatic mission. Attacks have spread throughout the Middle East, mostly targeting U.S. Embassies. Al-Qaeda is finding new life in joining with these vicious protests.

In an interview with Amy Goodman, U.S. Army General (retired), Wesley Clark, an unsuccessful candidate for the 2004 Democratic Presidential nomination, told of once hearing George W. Bush say that he wanted to “take out” Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Iran. Iraq is a done deal, the right-wing is working on Iran and of the remaining targets, 3 of them are involved in the latest violence.

In responding to the earlier deaths in Libya and attacks on the U.S. embassy in Egypt, Mitt Romney immediately accused the President of “sympathizing” with those who waged the attacks.” Obama…the Muslim, “sympathizing” with violent Muslim acts and just seven weeks before the election. The strategy is to put a match to the Middle East and blame it all on the ‘Muslim’ in the White House. Elect Obama and the world goes up in flames.

Can you imagine what would happen if Mitt Romney, John Bolton and the neocons were in the White House when these actions exploded onto the scene? Hello WW III.

And please remember, GOTV. Get out the vote!
