It was a night when Democrats needed a morale boost, and Vice President Joe Biden delivered with a dominating performance over Paul Ryan in the vice presidential debate.
The first question of the debate went to Joe Biden on Libya, and the vice president both touted Obama’s record on terrorism and promised that those who carried out the attack will be brought to justice. Ryan responded by painting Libya as a failed leadership moment. Ryan threw in all the red meat buzzwords about the Obama foreign policy unraveling. Biden called out Ryan for giving a lecture that wasn’t accurate. Biden then hammered Ryan for voting to cut embassy security by $300 million. Biden called Ryan’s right wing red meat a bunch of malarkey. Biden called out Romney and Ryan for, “betting against America all of the time.”
Ryan was asked about Romney’s no apologies line and whether that applies to burning Qurans and urinating on dead Taliban, and he said yes we should apologize. Paul Ryan has just stated that the Romney/Ryan platform is to apologize for America, except when it involves our “values.” Ryan then claimed that under Obama, Iran is racing towards a nuclear weapon. The topic turned to Iran, and Ryan claimed that the administration has been weak on sanctions, but Biden was there to knock Ryan’s talking points down, and ask him, “What are they talking about?” Ryan avoided the question, and when asked if he could avoid the two month red line before attacking Iran, Ryan fumbled and bumbled. Biden jumped in and talked about how the Iranian economy is going into free fall. Biden also said that Obama has met with Netanyahu 29 times. Biden said this is simply a bunch of stuff. Ryan responded by repeating his malarkey. Biden came back at Ryan by saying facts matter and explained how close Iran really is to a nuclear weapon.
The topic then turned to the economy. Biden was asked can unemployment be lowered to below 6% and how long will it take? He answered I don’t know how long it will take and detailed Obama’s economic achievements, and threw out let Detroit die, and let foreclosure take it’s course. Biden scored big points by laying into Romney and Ryan for the 47% remarks. Biden said it was about time to that the wealthy took some personal responsibility. Ryan warped the statistics and used the unemployment in Scranton, PA to claim that the jobs numbers are going in the wrong direction. Ryan then launched into Romney’s 5 point plan that won’t create jobs. Biden literally laughed out loud as Ryan was spinning his bull.
Ryan tried to explain away the 47% remarks by pointing to Romney’s personal generosity. Biden responded by saying if you believe what Ryan was pushing I have a bridge to sell you. Biden then hit Romney/Ryan again on wanting to let Detroit die. Biden talked about how Republicans need to just get out of the way and stop talking about how much they care about people, and do something. Biden also pointed out that Republicans ran up the debt. Ryan claimed that Obama came in with one party control. Ryan was asked again when he could get unemployment down to 6%, and he wouldn’t answer. Biden then hit Ryan on asking for stimulus money.
Ryan floundered on Social Security and Medicare, while Biden continued to hammer away at him. Ryan once again refused to name what specific deductions he would eliminate. One of Biden’s strongest lines of the night was telling the American people to use their common sense when they hear Romney and Ryan talking about Medicare and Social Security. Biden flat out dominated this debate. He wasn’t afraid to hit Romney, the Republicans in Congress, and Paul Ryan’s votes in the House.
Towards the end of the debate Ryan got totally desperate and repeated the right wing slur that Obama supports China’s one child policy. Biden talked with sincerity on abortion, a woman’s right to choose, and debunked the religious freedom anti-contraception talking point. Biden even put Ryan on the defensive on abortion. Ryan also lied and claimed the Romney policy supports the exceptions for rape, incest, and life of the mother.
In closing statements, Biden made a plea to the middle class, while Paul Ryan repeated his stump talking points and tried to sell Mitt Romney as an economic savior.
Ryan looked way, way, way in over his head in foreign policy, and he wasn’t helped by the fact that foreign policy is a Biden specialty. In fact, every time the topic turned to foreign policy, Paul Ryan completely vanished for minutes on end. The difference between the two men was the Joe Biden looked like a Senate veteran and a sitting vice president, while Paul Ryan looked like a middling member of the House.
If this was the debut of the new Obama strategy for handling the Romney/Ryan pathological lying express, it was a resounding success. Biden called out every single Ryan lie, and gave him no wiggle room. Vice President Biden wasn’t abrasive or angry. He was solid, steady, and confident. Much like when he debated Sarah Palin in 2008, Biden owned the room.
On the last question of the night about a member of our military who is dejected about the tone of the campaign, Paul Ryan couldn’t resist whining about the Obama campaign and then launched into a talking point anti-Obama barrage that verified exactly who and why this campaign is so negative.
Biden hit all the points that Obama didn’t touch in the first debate, and he hit them hard.
Democrats needed a morale boost and their momentum back. Vice President Joe Biden gave them both tonight.

Well, Ryan did say that voting to send our troops to war gave him more foreign policy experience than PBO, but I noticed it didn’t provide much help for him in tonight’s debate with a real master of foreign policy. Many republicans tend to make fun of VP Biden because when he speaks his mind, he says what is actually on his mind and they interpret these as gaffes. They’re not, except to the simple-minded who don’t know jack about foreign policy or anything else. IMHO, there was no one in the Senate who could hold a candle to Joe Biden when it comes to foreign policy, and Ryan was forced to take a lesson from a master in foreign policy tonight. I also loved when the VP pointed out that Romney/Ryan consider hedge fund managers small business owners. He was exactly right when he pointed out that over 90% of small business owners don’t make over $250,000/yr.

I don’t think that I heard a single “gaffe” from Biden’s mouth, despite Paul Ryan bringing up this point. Biden owned it by saying ” I always speak from the heart, and I always mean what I say.” Ryan cannot make such a claim. I bet Ryan wished Biden had made a mistake. Instead he got schooled by an old pro. This next presidential debate is not going to be like the first one. Not at all. The gloves are coming off for this fight.

The GOP is livid at Biden for his interruptions.
They say he was rude and cranky. Actually he was just stopping Ryan from lyin to the American people.
It really is too bad that Ryan had to lie so much that Biden was forced to interject during the debates. He wouldn’t give that weasel an inch.

Ironic that the Thugs are complaining about Biden’s performance but praised Romney when he constantly interrupted both PO and Jim Lehere, the moderator and was dismissive, arrogant and actually rude.
I thought Joe Biden schooled Lying Ryan of FP and what the President is about esp. about discussions with the Joint Chiefs of Staff that are classified and interactions with foreign leaders whether in person or by phone that the House and public are not privy to due to national security.
Biden knocked it out of the park and left Ryan crying for his Mamma.

You can tell ryan had memorized all his talking points to puke onto the American people. Niether of them care about America, if they both lies to try to dupe the electorate. Anyway, ryan was plastic. His face showed no emotion as he keep hammering his talking point lies. Hopefully, the next polls will show Obama back in control, and a solid performance by Obama next tuesday should cement the deal. The next debate is town-hall format where Obama excels and should see the real people back romney into a corner. And the last debate is on foreign policy, while romney has no clue how to stand on his own. Obama just needs to come out with the vigor Biden showed tonight and call it like he sees it from his gut. No more mister nice-guy. that’s what cost a bunch in 2010, along with dems not voting. Shame on those who did not vote. And take what Biden said about Bork and the SC. That is more serious than two heart attacks for the next 20-30 years. So, get out an vote this time.

U.S. Rep. Ryan was in over his head regarding foreign policy and Biden’s reminder about two U.S. wars fought with credit cards.
While President Obama last week seemed stunned to silence by Gov. Romney’s dubious “facts,” Biden tonight cut Ryan no slack when the whiz kid from Wisconsin equivocated with numbers.
If this debate were a scene from last summer’s “Avengers” leader, Biden was the Hulk who repeatedly body slammed the haughty “god” adversary.

Freddie Munster was clearly way in over his head tonight, which is not surprising. The debate forum and VP Biden smacked down Munster’s attempts at the Gish Gallop that Mittens pulled off last week. Munster came off as a sarcastic Conservative punk while VP Biden was more relatable to the middle class. I’m not surprised that Biden won this. Freddie should have junked the GOP BS, hypocrisy, talking points, deflections and distortions instead of embracing them when he couldn’t think of anything substantive to say. The GOP braintrust did a very bad job getting Freddie ready for this. I wouldn’t be surprised if Freddie’s mother called

I find it hard to believe that any jew would support ObAMA OR ObIDEN…the nearest Joe ever got to the Claymont Steel Mill was when he went to Archmere Academy for boys. Y guess relatively speaking he was close to it when he went to school but he grew up in Talleyville, Brandywine Hundred to be specific…..not Claymont and certainly not Scranton…………I would be remiss id I did not point out that his father has been dead for some time, so you can be sure that any changes he claimed would affect his mom and dad is MALARCHY……his mom died last year…….I have known Joe since I was a little kid and grew up with his brothers Jimmy and Frankie….It was a relief to not hear him say his wife was killed by a drunk driver, which wasn’t true a;; those years he used the tradgidy as a tear jerker, because she was the one who caused the accident by running a stop sign….Joe’s son Beau…he’s Delaware’s Attorney General and was “appointed” before he even [assed the bar exam..which he failed first time out and did not do a year tour in Afganistan, rather he flew home with DAD for Thanksgiving while the rest of his unit stayed behind in the war zone (wasn’t like Beau was going to see any action anyway but it was worth a campaign ribbon…….I also thought it interesting that he denegraded hedge funds considering Joe’s brother Jimmy and Joe’s son Hunter both were involved in hedge funds and got pissed off when they sued the guy who sold ‘em to ‘em…..but that was just one of the accounts they had….so whether you like Joe or not, he does lie alot.

Silly Libtards need to acquaint themselves with reality. When Romney went after Obama last week, he was commanding, presidential, and confident.
Tonight, when Biden went after Ryan, he was simply insulting, arrogant and ignorant.
Two totally different things. Romney on the attack equals awesome. Biden on the attack equals ass wipe arrogance. It’s like when a man tells you his mind, he’s confident and assertive. When a woman does, well, she’s just a bitch.

No sir. It is “fair” to say that one side, or rather the Vice President to be factual, dominated.
Joe Bidden “threw his punches” based upon his raw, hands-on, day to day experience on the job. Ryan was superficial, had his facts wrong and was following party line as that is what the GOP base likes…he only spoke to his party, not the American people as a whole. He never mentioned his record in congress…but Joe did.
It appeared as if there were places within the debate where there was a draw. But in reality, those impasses were based upon party line difference–the D message was delivered as well as the R message. Neither message made it persuasive to the opposition because the telegraphing of the punches were apparent; they were just “locking gloves” until the ref pulled them apart.
Just because Romney “dominated” the first debate doesn’t mean, or equate that Ryan did the same…same talking points perhaps, but, it was apparent Ryan was in over his head; he’s is just a pup, an unskilled pup to Biddens’ big dog experience.

Ryan messed up in a number of issues, noticeably about Medicare and about foreign policy matters. He repeated the lie about the $716 billion dollars and he was obviously in over his head in talking about the Middle East. I was glad when Biden pointed out his numerous hypocrisies, citing his role in cutting security funding for American embassies abroad and complaining about the logical consequence in Libya. He trotted out that same lie about the $716 billion in Medicare, and it’s obvious that anyone 55 or younger at this time would fare very poorly under his and Romney’s plans for that program. He’s been quite willing to vote in lockstep with other Congressional Republicans in trying to block all the president’s initiatives, so his dishonesty is almost as flagrant as Romney’s. I believe he and Romney would at least erode the effectiveness of Roe vs. Wade if not outright eliminating it. And of course, he was vague as always about which tax deductions they would get rid of. In any case, I’m glad the VP stuck it to him with no hesitation.

For the first time since the debates began, TRUTH and not lies reigned supreme. The Romney team’s shocking lack of any substance or initiative in overcoming the very very serious foreign policy and economy issues facing us all, was convincingly highlighted throughout the Vice-Presidential debate. How can anyone run the risk of allowing such a dangerously ignorant and clearly woefully incompetent alternative administration anywhere near the The White House?

However, there are Americans who don’t like that kind of debating and thought Joe “hurt” himself; Joe’s smiling his big “shark” smile at Ryan, laughing, interrupting, etc…it’s considered not “polite” nor good form within certain circles.
However, I truly believe that most Americans, regardless of party affiliation, watched this debate because they wanted to see a two-fist debate by a couple of “Irish” Americans. And, they got it!

is it any wonder that major corporations are sending memos to employees that if president Obama wins the election layoffs can be expected? is this extortion, coersion and class warfare waged on America? why is corporate America so desperate that they are holding your vote hostage. face the facts America, if you are not a top 1% of global elite now, you are too late. there is no hitching a ride, you can only hope that our children will still have a school to attend…. but even that is unlikely

Some say Biden was rude. I disagree. Ryan kept repeating the same tired old Right Wing lies. (Trickle down is when the rich piss on your leg and tell you it’s raining.)
Where I grew up there’s nothing wrong with being rude to a lying, selfish, condescending Eddie Munster looking little snot. In fact we’re generally ruder than can be expressed with mere words. Fisticuffs, Bowie knives, and six shooters come to mind. We’ve even got a town named Cut ‘N Shoot….
Further Joe’s behavior wasn’t nearly as rude as throwing the elderly and poor under a bus so Sheldon Adelson and the Koch brothers are free to trash the environment and escape paying taxes. Rude is far too kind compared to what he deserves. A good old Texas butt whupping would have been more appropriate.
