With House Republicans taking heat over not passing the Hurricane Sandy disaster relief bill, Michele Bachmann introduced the first bill of the new Congress to repeal Obamacare.
Bachmann proudly tweeted earlier today:
At noon today, I introduced the first bill of the 113th Congress to repeal Obamacare in its entirety.
— Michele Bachmann (@MicheleBachmann) January 3, 2013
House Republicans have voted on zero actual job creation bills (disguising a tax cut as job creation doesn’t count), but they have voted on repealing Obamacare 33 times in the past two years. It is a certainty that Bachmann’s bill will come to the House floor, and the House will vote to repeal Obamacare for the 34th meaningless time.
It would be easy to pick on Bachmann’s priorities, but she is just a symptom of the larger disease. House Republicans don’t care about the victims of Hurricane Sandy. Gov. Chris Christie specifically blamed John Boehner for the bill not being brought to the floor, when the person he really should have blamed was Majority Leader Eric Cantor.
Cantor is the loudest and the most powerful GOP voice in the House behind the idea that disaster relief should be offset by spending cuts. In September 2011, Cantor wanted a 40% cut in funding for first responders in exchange for disaster relief. Cantor has a long history of disaster relief hypocrisy. The fact that he chose to call out Boehner instead of the right wing billionaires’ best boy reveals a lot about both Chris Christie and who really controls the Republican Party.
If House Republicans actually cared about the victims of Sandy, disaster relief would have been the first bill introduced today. Instead the nation was given another cheap stunt that is designed to do nothing but waste more time on another meaningless debate and vote that will score ideological points with the right wing zealots who still believe that Obamacare is the root of all evil.
As far as the House is concerned, it is business as usual for the least popular Congress of all time.

So I’m curious. Is it now OK for the Left, broadly speaking, to wish death to those with whom we disagree? Is carnage in the streets acceptable if the folks killed are RWNJs?
How many who gave my comment a thumbs down have EVER lost a friend or acquaintance to RW violence wherever it may lurk? How many of you have been specific targets of that RW violence?
I have lost five friends and acquaintances to RW extremist violence. I am living under siege from the Religious Right now. Until YOU do, until you actually do something that causes you to understand bloodshed, human loss, and living in terror – do NOT justify OUR SIDE doing the same. Until you’ve wept at funerals time and time again because someone you cared about died at the hands of extremists, do NOT fucking judge me or dismiss what I say.
It’s NOT war. It is a deeply divisive and horrible mess, but IT IS NOT WAR. Until violence, bloodshed, and loss all come and sit on YOUR doorstep, you’re just farting hate like the RW. And if it DOES come and sit on your doorstep, you will know why having casual calls for MORE death disgust me beyond measure. You do NOT know what you’re talking about.
I do.

Yes I wish them suffering – AND a long slow and painful death. It is a wish – an opinion – and a reflection of how disgusted we are with RWNJ’s who go around causing death and destruction – REAL people are dying here due to their actions.

Churchlady, I am truly sorry and saddened for your loss, and no, I have not suffered it as you have. Not personally, not immediately nor directly, I am overwhelmed nonetheless, and seek to rectify and prevent. Fighting evil forces doesn’t necessarily require similar tactics, it begs for superior ones, and keeping it clean (metaphorically and emotionally) is difficult. As you may know.
Call it whatever you will, overcoming the mentality that creates legislation that provides room for violence to take hold is what it will take, to make it better on this planet. So much hatred and desperation can be prevented, with good policies and education to foster positive situations rather than hopeless ones. In the meantime, the righteous will learn to clean up their acts, or not. I wish you luck. and all the best, in reversing the siege that besets you.

He was given no choice but to work with Pres Obama after Sandy – his state and his constituents need help. So he did the right thing (something most conservatives don’t care or understand) and he asked for help.

I wasn’t sure things had gotten bad enough, for change. Maybe 2013 will be the lucky year for radical change — within the GOP, within the Congress, within our entire political system? Some see this as “business as usual”, but the bottom half of this country reached the breaking point a while back. If history has not taught these gerrymandering, corporate-peddling, vote-stealing, personal war-waging, racist and rude politicians-for-hire, then what will?

My insurance company (Anthem Blue Cross) just raised my rates 24.4% in a letter I got yesterday (1/2/13). Will go in effect in March. I just wrote my state Insurance commissioner and Feds. Doubt if anything will happen!
Basically, they are testing Obama and my state to see if they can get away with major illegal gouging. The reasons given for the insane hike are pure BS! It is going to be a real rough road for Obamacare. It won’t work at ALL if all rates go up this much for most people. Obama needs to put a boot in these peoples asses and throw a few in prison for hardcore price gouging and breaking the new laws. They still think they are free to screw us like the oil companies.
I basically am going to just drop my insurance and pay the Obamacare fine which is 1/3 of what I pay for insurance. The current insurance pays for nothing and has a 5000 deductible. If everyone drops their insurance it basically will not work. I think they want everyone to drop. They (insurance and drug companies) are playing Obama for a fool.
Also, I STILL don’t see how Obamacare will make people any healthier. People like me still won’t be able to afford going to the doctors due to cost for basic things like blood tests, drugs, and the insanely high deductibles that make you pay for everything! This still just are catastrophic insurance policies for most people.
Nothing will change and could even get worse. We should pay 3% more in Fed taxes and have a public health insurance option. Would have been easier to police and everyone could go to the doctor when they want to, not when they have to.

The Obama health care plan is not as expensive as what I pay for literally NO coverage on the private market. My pre-existing condition is “pre” diabetes (ONE borderline sugar reading in 6 years). My previous insurance co. quote me almost $1600 a month. I ended up going with another private ins. for almost $500 a month, with $5,000 deductible, then 50% coverage, then pay another $5,000 before coverage kicks in. NO covered Dr. visits, NO drug coverage, NOTHING. Under the Obama plan, I would have to go 6 months with no coverage, then pick which level I wanted… $1,500 deductible or $2,500. For a cost of between $150 – $400 a month. 80% coverage. Private insurance is a total rip-off. BEFORE Obama’s health plan, my premiums thru Hubby’s company ins. was going up 7%, then 10%, then 15% which was when Obama became President. You’re right … this is retaliation and a taunting by private insurance to test their limits. By the way, I don’t put anything through ins. now … cheaper to pay cash at the Doctor’s offc. I’ll put the blood work through just for a discount, but still end up paying all of it myself. I should quit it and go for the Obama health care but at 63-1/2, am worried about going 6 mos. with no backup plan. Hopefully Medicare will still be there for me shortly.

Bachmann is a Weapon of Mental Delusion, as evidenced in her apparent belief that she had any chance to be the 2012 Republican nominee for POTUS.
Acknowledging that Michele rarely does her homework and has never been one to let reality get in the way of her hyperbolic rhetoric, it is not surprising that she insists that the ACA is unconstitutional, despite the recent decision of the SCOTUS to the contrary.
I would really like to see someone actually challenge Bachmann during an interview by making her defend the long shopping list of baseless accusations and reality-devoid proclamations that she has made during the past several years.
Typical exchange between Michele and an interviewer:
“So Congresswoman Bachmann, tell us about your views regarding the health care reform legislation that Congress passed in 2009.”
“Obamacare is socialism …”, followed by a wide grin and bug-eyed stare at the camera. And when asked to elaborate, she’ll reply “Obamacare is socialism …” while grinning and giving another creepy stare.
Michele Bachmann’s banal, nonsensical rhetoric is 40% demagoguery, 20% paranoid delusion, and 40% the result of being an ignorant dumb ass.

HAHA…listen to them complain about rising rates in healthcare! What? You think “affordable” actually applied to you! You’re working, you’re paying more for healthcare so you can provide free healthcare for the lazy drug addict bums who don’t want to work. I know…it’s Bush’s fault…hahaha. You’re going to get exactly what you deserve now, a crappy health care system, longer wait times, and lousy service…and pay more for it! Thank God there are still people in congress with some commons sense and will keep trying to rid us of this disaster known as obamacare, aka socialized medicine. Smaller paychecks, higher healthcare costs…you voted for it now live with you stupid morons. Republicans brought you those evil Bush tax cuts, and now you blame the republicans for losing your tax cuts. You folks are utterly clueless, media drones who blindly follow whatever CNN and MSNBC want you to believe. You are destroying this country, too blind to see you are destroying this country, and to brain dead to realize you are destroying this country. We can only hope our republican congress kills every bill, gridlocks Obama for the next four years and says NO to debt ceiling increases and NO to more insane out of control government spending.

Despite the fact you are totally ignorant of what Obamacare is, I will let you in on a little secret becuase Breibart wont.
Obamacare depends on private healthcare providers to provide the insurance. So, if its socialized, then we no longer have capitalism in this country.
Worse, you think Obamacare is socialized medicine. That is hilarious beyond belief. Watching you compare it to the far better healthcare services in other coutnrys is also hilarious.
You have to love the fact that under herr bushler the debt ceiling was never questioned. Running two unfunded wars was never questioned by you people.
Sorry, the country isnt being destroyed. The economy is coming back quite nicely. Another thing Breitbart and Fox wont tell you
Please read a newspaper now and then
psssst: Obamacare is NOT insurance. Damm you look dumb

House Republicans periodically need to engage in a session of political masturbation to relieve the pent-up stress created the internal bickering and turmoil of their dysfunctional party.
I’m sure they all feel much better now.

The Employer is just as much at fault as the Insurance Companies. They want to use Obama as the fall guy and blame him for all the increases in HealthCare. They can set back and make money of the backs of their employees all the while getting their employees to hate Obama.
Everyone should know their insurance rates should not be raised over 8% if they are you are being gouged by your Employer. Report them to the proper authorities. Someone needs to stop this crap NOW!

Eric Cantor, you are such an embarrassment to the great State of Virginia. When are the people of Virginia going to get tired of your B*******t and set your butt on the unemployment line?? I was born and raised in Virginia and it is definitely offensive to me that Virginians can’t see you for the spoiled egomaniac that you are!

Here’s a hint, most of the US doesn’t care either. Let them use their own giant reserves of money and rebuild and stop stacking in projects that have nothing to do with damage from the storm in their estimates.
Bachmann is an idiot, this is known. But Christie and Cuomo are proof bipartasianship is alive an well in the realm of whining and overestimating.

How many ways can the House Republicans, especially the likes of Michele Bachmann, make themselves look stupid, out of touch, and downright insensitive to the genuine needs of Americans? There seems to be no end to it, and this 34th attempt to eliminate ObamaCare, along with the inhumane treatment of Sandy survivors, speaks volumes. It also says just as much about those who voted for these clowns.
