Rick Santorum is claiming that Obama is acting like a ‘sore winner.’ Santorum needs to remember that the president is acting like a winner because he won.
Here is the video:
Transcript from This Week:
STEPHANOPOULOS: And, you know, Rick Santorum, House Republicans certainly seem to feel some of the pressure on those issues this week. They announced at the end of the week that they’re not going to hold up this debt limit, seek a three-month extension on the debt limit to give some breathing space for negotiations. You know, you heard David Plouffe right there say that is a cave by House Republicans.
SANTORUM: I mean, listen to that language. I mean, Republicans extend an olive branch. “Ah, they’re caving. Ah, we got them.” That’s not how a leader acts. Governor didn’t get things done in Michigan because every time she won she rubbed it in their nose. That’s the problem with this administration. They don’t — they’re not very gracious winners.
And I always said, you know, there’s one thing worse than a sore loser, and that’s a sore winner. And the president’s a sore winner.
(CROSSTALK)
SANTORUM: … Republicans understand that. And this president could get immigration done. He could get something done on deficits and entitlements, but he’s got to move his people to do that, instead of forcing Republicans always to come his way. And that’s the problem.
Rick Santorum seems to have forgotten how Obama spent his first three years in office trying to compromise only to be told no by Republicans, but congressional Republicans didn’t stop at just saying no. They also refused to support their own proposals if Obama supported them.
Remember this?

Rick Santorum’s big problem with the president is that Obama is acting like he won the election. Does Santorum expect the president to be contrite and apologize for winning? Maybe Santorum would be more comfortable with the president if he kept his eyes down at all times and shuffled along several paces behind Republicans? (No, that couldn’t be it at all.)
In Santorum’s view, it isn’t that Republicans were sore losers who forced Obama to become a stern parent in order to deal with their tantrums. Nope, the problem is that Obama is a sore winner who won’t stop acting like he became the first president since Ronald Reagan to get 51% of the popular vote in both of his elections.
According to Santorum the problem is President Obama, and until this president learns his place and stops acting like a winner, Republicans will continue to pout.

Santorum is one of many sore losers who can’t handle the fact that the GOP ideology was rejected soundly in the 2012 presidential election. If the shoe were on the other foot, he would be one of many insufferable winners. I’m only glad I didn’t have to witness the gloatfest Willard and others would have been unashamedly indulging in if the presidential election had gone the other way.

So what was Santorum’s take on Bush when he said, “I won. I have a lot of political capitol and I am going to spend all of it.” Bush was the biggest bowhard of all time. He was sort of re-elected and not only spent any imaginery political capitol, but he spent all of our money to boot making war. But IOKIYAR. As always. I’m sure Sanctimonious Rick is just following the talking points he was handed before his appearance today.
By the way, GOP, it is not Obama tearing this nation apart; it is YOU.

Rick Santorum is just Sore at the world. He’s sore that there are Gay people, He’s sore that there are poor people, He’s sore that there are people of color. He’s sore that there are women who control their own bodies. He’s sore that people work hard and enjoy their lives. He should subside into silence and learn to meditate on his own in ability to understand the nobility and generosity of this President.

Maybe if the President sent Rick a new sweater vest with “I’m sorry” embroidered on it, it might assuage Rick’s hurtfeelings because America SOUNDLY rejected the classist, racist, homophobic, agenda of the modern Re-thug-lican party.
I’m so thankful that Obama won. If for no other reason than it handed the arrogant delusional Red party, a sound and convincing defeat (for those with ears to hear, and eyes to see).
They are the ones who are sore, and sore losers. They want a pity party because the nigrah got elected despite their best efforts to thwart and destroy him.

Why would anyone bother to have Rick Santorum on a Sunday political talk show? He is a blithering idiot, second only to Sarah Palin. Frankly, on the day before Inauguration Day wouldn’t it have been nice, for a change, if the the Sunday political talk shows had all featured Democrats talking about hopes for the next four years?

Why do the networks put on the 4th tier half-baked mouth pieces?
Because all the actual important people are too busy to play stupid Sunday morning show games…people with purpose and a real jobs are simply too busy preparing for other important events…or, recuperating from and exhausting week…or, they’re invited to the Inauguration events and guess who wasn’t? (cue the Santorum Woody Woodpecker music).
Little Ricky doesn’t have a lot going on these days…I’m betting he doesn’t get invited anywhere anymore, so he’s just sits around moping, waiting for his agent gets him a couple yammering gigs…he has no useful purpose in life. He is now a nobody instead of some “charismatic” leader of the free world…what a let down. I’m sure his mommie still calls everyday to tell him how special he is…

Sorry, Beaglemom – I have to disgree. The list of blitering idiots from the RW means that if talk shows honored your good standard, they’d NEVER have anyone on from the GOP. It is not a good idea to silence them. Behind closed doors, no audiences, they get even MORE radically RW and pursue REALLY crazy notions without our seeing them until it’s too late.
So Santorum just stands in line with Sarah, Michelle, Huckabee, and all those lovely office holder wannabes such as Trump. Nothing positive comes from trying to rank them on the insanity ladder. The MSM HAVE to talk to them every now and then just so we can learn what they’re up to.
Please join me in turning them all OFF however. Just because it’s important to hear them out doesn’t mean it has to be by all of us!!!!

Santorum: Armor-Piercing Bullets Are ‘a Right in Our Country’
Also from todays show
“Armor-piercing bullets, why do you need that?” Granholm interrupted.
“Why do you need to protect Hollywood?” Santorum shot back.
“You’re deflecting,” Granholm observed. “Deer don’t wear armor. Why do you need an armor-piercing bullet?”
“But criminals could,” Santorum quipped.
“And police officers certainly do,” Granholm noted.
“Having the ability to defend yourself is something that is a right in our country,” Santorum asserted.

Rick Santorum was an idiotic bigot when he was Senator from Pennsylvania and he is still an idiotic bigot. I had no respect for him then, and even less now.
What really bothers me about Rick and his ilk is that on the surface they appear to be so respectable and intelligent. In truth they are reactionaries who were the benficiaries of old policies of exclusion, and they spend their mental energies justifying why they should be the privileged few. Many of them espouse contradictory values that anyone on the outside can see are not even in line with their own claims to religious and moral righteousness.
I think Rick has left a few letters out of his name…he should be in a Sanatorium.

Cute sarcastic comments but seriously, what is it about a $16,700,000,000 debt with no intention of cutting spending whatsoever that you progressives don’t get? I feel like a deranged Obama is behind the wheel of the bus in the movie “Speed” and none of us sensible people are allowed to get off. No intention of cutting spending? Really? Does the Budget control act of 2010 ring a bell? Everything the president has spent since has required equal spending cuts. He offered the tea thug driven GOP a goodly amount of cuts. WHat happened? They will not approve it because he is president
Every year since the great traitor reagan was in our national income has went down. Every year fewer and fewer people are employed. Every year in order to run the government the cost has gone up. We diudnbt have a spending problem when Bush was in, deregulating banks, running two unfunded wars, in fact deficits didnt matter. On 1/20/2009 we all of a sudden had a spending problem. Gee.Gosh.

Ah, Glenn, it is comments like this that absolutely dumbfound me. Yep, our debt is outrageously high, no doubt about it. Yet not word from you that a very large chunk of it is directly from Bush, Inc.’s insanity and subsequent economic crash and trying to prevent the economy from tanking into oblivion. You were around back then, were you not? Did you honestly think all that was done for free? Did you say one enfeebled word when Bushco went to war with zero funding? Twice? Did it once occur to you to even complain about the…ooooops…forgot to fund that teeny little Medicare Part D? Where were you when the totally costless ‘No Child Left Behind’ program was enacted? Were you on-line then asking inane questions?
The only thing you’re upset about, because you’ve obviously done zero research on any of this, is that there has been no cutting spending on what is so dog-in-the-manger-termed “entitlements.” That’s your real beef, would be my guess. And, every day, I thank our collective little stars that those “entitlements” aren’t up for cuts.
And yes, I’d have to say Obama IS the most divisive president since….uh….Clinton. The “divisiveness” is being caused by the ever-increasing sense by RWNJ that anything they don’t want or don’t approve should be illegal, and the constant brain-washing from FOX takes care of the rest. It’s called…get ready for it…a sense of “entitlement.” Abjectly unearned, to boot – unlike SS.

@Glenn: President Obama’s annualized growth of federal spending is 1.4, the lowest of any POTUS since Eisenhower, according to Forbes. The right-wing propaganda machine repeats the “out-of-control spending” meme every chance it gets, but that does not mean it is true. President Obama has presided over the slowest spending in decades. In fiscal 2010 (the first Obama budget) spending fell 1.8% to $3.46 trillion.
In fiscal 2011, spending rose 4.3% to $3.60 trillion.
In fiscal 2012, spending is set to rise 0.7% to $3.63 trillion, according to the Congressional Budget Office’s estimate of the budget that was agreed to last August.
In fiscal 2013 — the final budget of Obama’s first term — spending is scheduled to fall 1.3% to $3.58 trillion. http://www.cbo.gov/publication/42905

instead of the term “losers” being used used to describe rick santorum and the republican-party; i feel the term “rejects” would be more appropriate (in my opinion) being as the majority of the voters in this country actually did “reject” them. there is always a hope for losers to become winners. but rejects are a whole different story..

Suggestion to make words “bigger”: go to your tool bar and click on “view”. It will have the word “zoom”; go there and click on “zoom in” and it will enlarge the page/lettering. Or, go to the bottom of the screen and look for a little box with a “slide” button…move it to the right and it enlarges (Opera has this feature).
It depends on your Web browser as to exactly where the “zoom” or enlarger, slide feature tab is located, you’ll have to check, but, it works and you don’t have to use caps. (I’m not super savvy on all this stuff, so if anyone else can clarify what I’m “trying” to say, jump in.)

I would love to hear him elaborate a bit on his reference to Granholm as governor of Michigan, specifically citing instances of the governor acting the way he is describing.

maybe it’s already been pointed out, but this bears pointing out again: Reagan did NOT get 51% or better in his two elections. The last president to have achieved that was Eisenhower. Besides Obama and Eisenhower there are only 4 others who have gotten 51% or better in 2 term elections: FDR, Grant, McKinley and Jackson

Now you know them’s fightin’ words to the right. You pulled the double doozy on the right, facts about Obama and facts about Reagan. Anytime facts enter the discussion there will be Faux news based retaliation.

One key demonstration of Regressive Rick’s terminal stupidity is that when he referred to President Obama as a “snob” for wanting to make college education available to all, at least 2 of RR’s own children were attending college at the time. So, on top of his incurable stupidity, he is also a flagrant hypocrite.

Taking the comment by this idiot as one person’s opinion: Imagine if you will Republican’s won the election. After eight years of spending money on special interest groups, a war (or yet another) looking for weapons of mass destruction, helping crooks in lending institutions ripping off people, etc. I daresay we’ve not heard one apology for causing the latest recession! Obama has nothing to apologize for. YOU and YOURS should be on your knees begging us to forgive you.

Santorum is an excellent description of an empty suit. He is an will be a no-count!
Note: Could TV political shows please change your agenda and bring in new blood to your shows and do away with the likes of Gingrich, Santorum, Rove, Palin, Bachmann……et al…..
There are so many young go getters that should be given the chance to bring their messages to the table. ta ta……

Could the term “Empty-White-Sheets” now be considered more Appropriate when describing most all Republicans today than just (ordinary) “Empty-Suits”. I agree that “New Blood” is required; however I fear that due to the Republican-Party’s Elite’s Constant “In-Breeding”(to “Preserve and keep “Pure” Their “True Blood Lines”) and the Brain-Washing from Birth of the Their “Spawn” that “They” are “Above” and Should “Rule-Over” the Common-Man that It Would Not Allow them; (the Republican-Spawn) to Participate Because the Spawn of Republican Party “Elite” would be Considered “Empty-White-Sheets”. Just Like their Ancestors. That would be a Good-Thing.In my opinion.

I must ALWAYS remind people that RICKY was living in Virginia and charging the Penn Hills School District (suburb of Pittsburgh)to pay for Cyber-educating his family.
His claim was that a little bungalow in Penn Hills (in which he never lived) was his primary address and therefore he was entitled to this right.
It was THEFT!!!!!
Why ANYBODY continues to give this guy a platform from which to spew his hate is truly beyond me.

The problem is not the President’s leadership as Santorum stated, it’s politicians like Santorum who refuse to compromise or move an inch by believing they’re the only ones who have a correct answers to any situation. Santorum, in particular, is unwavering in his opinions and has a history of believing he’s the only one who has the correct answer and that everyone should follow his moral beliefs. We all know from hearing from him on the campaign trail, and afterwards, he has no problems with imposing morals on others through legislation. Not only just against abortion, he’s against any form of birth control.
Santorum is the most dangerous type of person to our democratic rights. He’s closed minded, and seems incapable of listening to others with different moral of religious beliefs, and understanding their views are just as important and valid as his.

There is one word that sum up Little Ricky’s thought process as you have described so concisely:
Certainty–only a backwards fool or an uneducated person knows for a fact that their core belief system (be it moral, religious, political) has THE one and only correct answers to everything.* Santorum lives in an American that has been long gone for well-over 50 years and, it ain’t coming back. He has no comprehension that, change is constant; that certainty+no change=fundamentalism.
*It’s sort of like Chris Rocks’ classic bit about his father saying “pouring Robtussen on it” for every imaginable human condition…”You got the measles, put some Robtussin on it…your leg is broken, Robtussin! And get it into the bone real good.” He had faith and certainty in Robtussin regardless of the condition that it would take care of thing…

Well, now since master was smacked down again for his racist, women hating views this Black man needs to still continue to bow and act his place. How sick this chump. He would never stated that Clinton or Bush to stop acting like a sore winner. Bush came out and stated he was going to use his political capital and no one challenged his authority. Something is so dearly wrong with these middle age and older white republican males. They think they are the only ones that have the only answers to any problem facing our nation…. And to think a Black man can solve our problems is a mortal white sin according to their holy scripture….
