The Republican Party is so afraid of Hillary Clinton that Fox News and Rep. Darrell Issa teamed up today on a bogus Benghazi smear campaign designed to slow the momentum of the potential 2016 candidate.

Steve Doocy played video of former Sec.of State Clinton testifying on Benghazi and said, “That was then Secretary of State testifying under oath that she had zero knowledge of calls for more security before the Benghazi terror attack, but a new scathing government report from the House reports that that wasn’t even the truth. Congressman Darrell Issa led the investigation. Listen to this. Doocy then played tape of Rep. Issa on Fox News saying, “Well, the Secretary of State was just wrong. She said she did not participate in this, and yet only a few months before the attack, she outright denied security in her signature, in a cable, April 2012.” Doocy asked, “So was information withheld to protect the administration?” He then brought Peter Johnson Jr. into the conversation and said, “Peter, it looks like Hillary lied.”
It may look like Hillary lied, but Fox News and Darrell Issa are the ones who are really lying.
Foreign Policy reported that all State Department cables go out under the Secretary of State’s signature, ‘It’s not clear who in the State Department sent the April 19 response. But as a general rule, “every single cable sent from Washington to the field is sent over the secretary of state’s name,” a former State Department official noted, adding, “Though they are trying to make this new, it’s not. After 30+ hearings and briefings, thousands of pages, this has all been addressed.”‘
It may sound like the same old Benghazi attack from the right, but they’ve got a new target. Originally, Issa and right wing media thought that they could bring down President Obama with their conspiracy theory. After that resulted in a spectacular mix of failure and indifference, Republicans and their media are now focused on using Benghazi to destroy Hillary Clinton ahead of 2016.
The buildup to Clinton’s potential 2016 run is something that this country hasn’t seen since the Eisenhower in 1952. Like Ike, former Sec. Clinton is enjoying and sustaining a period of popularity that has made her the most liked political figure in the entire country. The latest Gallup poll found that Clinton has a 64% favorable rating. For the sake of comparison, Eisenhower’s approval rating over entire presidency, averaged 65%. Historically speaking, only President Kennedy has come close to matching Eisenhower’s popularity.
If she runs and wins, Hillary Clinton has the potential to be a very popular president. This is the sort of political doomsday scenario that Republicans fear most, so they and their television propaganda arm are doing what they can to try to stop Clinton’s momentum.
However, using Benghazi to stop Hillary Clinton is a lot like trying to stop a speeding train with a raw egg. It’s illogical, messy, and it definitely won’t work.
You may think it is too early to talk about 2016, but Fox News and the Republican Party are already campaigning against Hillary Clinton.

What’s great about this? Absolutely nothing that Darrell Issa says, and every day less and less of anything that the GOP says is getting notice. If people want to watch Fox news and buy into this crap that I say more power to him. Because they are going to end up looking like fools wagging their beards and muttering Benghazi.

I suspect she won’t run, and not because of this. Before she left her post as Secretary of State, she had kept up such an enormous pace she was falling ill. By the time 2016 comes, she’ll be about the age I am now. I’m a fairly strong little sucker, but at half the pace, I’d have a tag on my toe. Woman candidate? How about Elizabeth Warren?

It seems interesting that Fox and that lying sack of manor Issa would bring out the fact that a cable had Clinton’s signature on it and then say she is lying about her knowledge of the request for additional security.
Even I know almost all State Department cables will have her signature on it. It just seems logical for that to be the case!!
What is so disturbing about all of this is that Fox repeatedly lies about Obama and anything the Democrats do. WE ALL KNOW IT!!It still gains traction, and they are still in business of being the shrill for the GOP, and the scary thing…they are successful at what those lying SOBs do!
The NY Post out and out lied in its headlines this past week, and no one seems to care. Has this nation and its people grown so use to not getting the truth that it no longer matters??

Even in 2016 people of common sense will never forget the made up lies about WMD’s in Iraq, just to score no-bid contracts for Dick Cheney and his cronies at the cost of over 4000 American soldiers lives.
Even Benghazi won’t overshadow those 4000+ American soldiers killed due to the previous disgraceful administration.

I realize this is a liberal site, and as such you have to be opposed to anything but that point of view. But at least TRY to be somewhat realistic.
The views so often expressed are pure fantasy. For instance, you are suggesting that Benghazi shouldn’t even matter, just about like Clinton suggested. I.e. “What difference does it make??”
Americans died there. That’s why it matters!
Don’t keep pulling the wool over your own eyes just to win an argument. That certainly won’t win you any elections. Its okay to lean one way or another. But at least make such comments plausible.
That’s what’s troubling about the Left in this era. They are willing to step completely outside the realm of reality, just to attempt to win a debate. But people see through that.

No, Benghazi matters. What also matters is the hypocrisy of the gop in going berserk over it in the light of so many similar incidents that occurred under the previous president, without even a whisper from the same GOP representatives.
Clinton never said Benghazi didnt matter, she was referring to the circumstances under which it occurred.

Well,just before that Embassy attack,The GOP members of Congress,had voted to REDUCE spending on protecting our embassies,so I do NOT care to hear any one of them,or Fox news(?) saying one word more about it! Plus,now they are trying the same exact thing,with the Boston bombings,when they(GOP)voted to defund some of our national security recently,with the sequester.Just VOTE THESE PEOPLE OUT,AND WE CAN GET BACK TO HAVING A COUNTRY WITH FULL EMPLOYMENT AND GET TO REBUILDING OUR CRUMBLING INFRASTRUCTURE!
