A new Fairleigh Dickinson University PublicMind survey found that the call for Hillary Clinton to run for president in 2016 is getting louder, as 63% of Democrats want her to run.
When Democrats were asked who they would like to see run for president, Hillary Clinton was the runaway favorite. Sixty three percent of Democrats wanted to see Clinton run. Only 12% of Democrats want Vice President Joe Biden to run, and 3% want New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo to run. Seventy four percent of liberals want Clinton to run. Sixty two percent of moderates want Clinton to run, and 44% of conservatives want her to run. Sixty percent of men, and 65% of women want her to run. At least 60% or more of people in every age group from age 18 to 65+ want the former Sec. of State to run. Clinton’s support has broadened to such a degree that 64% of whites and 61% of non-whites want her to run. The highest level of support Joe Biden has is that 20% of non-whites want him to run. Biden’s support in every other category ranged from 9%-17%.

Hillary Clinton’s level of support among Democrats is so dominant that more Democrats want her to run (63%) than all of the Republican support for Chris Christie, Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, and Rick Santorum combined (58%).
The dynamics of Democratic unity and Republican fracture look to be continuing in the earliest stages of the leadup to 2016. No potential Republican candidate has more than 20% support within their own party. Sen. Marco Rubio leads Jeb Bush and Chris Christie, 18%-16%-14%. Rick Santorum has the support of 9% of Republicans. Rubio is most popular with conservatives (20%), and Christie is most popular with liberals (20%).
It is already looking like the Republican Party may be divided by geographic lines. Chris Christie is popular in the North. Marco Rubio is popular with the tea party crowd that is increasing located in the South. If Paul Ryan ran, he would be strong in the Midwest. The real wild card who could step all over Rubio is Rand Paul. A likely Paul run would be popular with the tea party crowd, the South, and the Paul libertarians.
All the fractures that Republicans hoped would split the Democratic Party between Obama and Clinton are non-existent. The Democratic Party is unified, and they want Hillary Clinton to run for president in 2016. Strike that. They don’t want Hillary Clinton. They are demanding that she run in 2016.
Even if Mrs. Clinton was thinking about not running, it is would be almost impossible for her to resist the will of her party. Clinton has proven herself loyal to the party, and willing to be a team player. There is a zero percent chance that if called on to be the Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton would turn her party down.
