Chad Griffin interrupted an interview with Thomas Roberts live on MSNBC to tell the Prop 8 plaintiffs, “The President is on the line from Air Force One.” President Obama congratulated the plaintiffs and noted that due to their courage a lot of other people will benefit.

President Obama, speaking from Air Force One en route to Senegal said, “We’re proud of you guys, and we’re proud to have this in California. And it’s because of your leadership things are heading the right way. So you should be very proud today.”

Chad Griffin thanked Obama for his leadership, and said that while we celebrate today, we’ve got to roll up our sleeves and get to work for those in the 37th states that didn’t get marriage equality today.

Right before they wrapped up the call, President Obama got an invite to the wedding.
