New Book Outs Democrats as Commies and Obamacare a Commie Plot

The Enemies WithinWorld Net Daily’s Jerome Corsi is all gaga over New Zealander Trevor Loudon’s “encyclopedic new 689-page volume, The Enemies Within: Communists, Socialists and Progressives in the U.S. Congress.”

This is a sequel to what can only be considered Loudon’s 668-page 2011 fantasy thriller, Barack Obama and the Enemies Within.”

Loudon claims that,

[F]or more than 50 years, U.S. radicals, many of them allied to hostile foreign powers, have been systematically infiltrating sympathizers and ‘useful idiots’ into the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate.

Useful idiots…Before you say Boehner and Cantor and Paul and Issa, remember, Loudon is so conservative he avoids bowel movements because they will change the status quo.

So “No, no, no,” says Loudon, who seems intent on carrying the torch of McCarthysm into a new century:

“There are now large voting blocks in both Houses, who, whether they are conscious of it or not, are effectively an enemy ‘Fifth Column’ in the heart of the U.S. Government.”

Enemy Fifth Column. I didn’t know there could be any other kind. So we have established a tendency toward redundancy in Loudon’s prose, but just who does he think these useful idiots are if not Boehner and company?

Pretty much who you’d expect a too-tightly-wound conservative to accuse. The people most responsible for holding up their corporatist/theocratic agenda, of course:

Sen. Barbara Boxer, Sen. Dick Durbin, Sen. Tom Harkin, Sen. Barbara Mikulski, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Sen. Debbie Stabenow, Sen. Al Franken, Sen. Sherrod Brown, Sen. Ron Wyden, Seen. Jeff Jerkley, Sen. Patty Murray, Sen. Tammy Baldwin, Rep. Nancy Pelosi, Rep. Louis Guttierez, Rep. John Conyers, Rep. Charles Rangel, Rep. Marcy Kaptur, Rep. Peter DeFazio, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, Rep. Jim McDermott, former Rep. Dennis Kucinich, and the list goes on.

Loudon says these people must be removed from office before they can carry out their nefarious scheme, that “Until this problem is confronted and dealth with, the very survival of the West is gravely endangered.”

It’s not clear which West Loudon is talking about. It is certainly not the West envisioned by the Founding Fathers, who most certainly did not reckon on theocracy. They put the First Amendment and its separation clause in the Constitution for a reason, after all.

What Loudon is selling here is just more “red scare” rhetoric best left gathering dust on library shelves dedicated to the 1950s. He talks about the “international communist movement” as though it actually exists.

Loudon evokes fears of a planet falling under “centralized government control” and the creation of a “worker controlled society” because obviously, if you favor laborers over greedy corporate tyrants and crony capitalists you can only be a member of the Communist International, or Comintern. And of course, just as in the fevered imaginings of McCarthy, anyone opposed to him must be marching to the orders of “Moscow, Havana, Beijing, or in local Communist Party headquarters.”

Loudon warns, “If you want to know what the Democrats will do tomorrow, read the Communist Party’s People’s World or the Democratic Socialist’s Democratic Left today.” Yes, workers are the enemy and so, especially, are labor unions.

If this all sounds very useful to crony capitalists, it is. This is how conservatism typically operates: Demonize your enemies and launch witch hunts. We’ve seen nothing but witch hunts from the GOP since 2008 and certainly people remember how anyone who spoke out against George W. Bush (2001-2008) was instantly demonized as a enemy of the United States, an enemy of God, and/or a terrorist sympathizer.

And Loudon does not forget immigrants, whom he refers to in his new book as “tools to ensure a ‘governing coalition’ for the left.” Because, he says, “the U.S. communist movement has long exploited ethnic minorities for revolutionary purposes”!

The Dream Act, Loudon says, is representative of “communist inspired legislation.”

And here I thought the only thing Latinos were smuggling into the country with their cantaloupe thighs was explosives and drugs. Turns out, they’ve been importing communism too. All those Latinos in California transformed the state into “a socialist-led Democratic stronghold” and this process is “now underway in several other Southwestern states.”

No wonder conservatives love this stuff. It allows them to indulge in their racist fantasies while pretending to be patriots and not loathsome bigots after all, because “Marxists…are using Latino immigrants to put the Democrats into power – forever” and as Loudon has already said, Democrats are communists.

It’s a neat bit of simplistic and circular logic for the base, something they can easily absorb without being required to do much thinking, something they’ve proven they abhor in election after election.

Loudon of course attacks the Affordable Care Act, claiming it is “a classic example of a socialist policy foisted on the American public, by a small but committed Marxist sect.”

(You hear that, Mitt Romney?)

Obamacare, if allowed to run its course, says Loudon, will bring on “fully socialized health care in the home of the cowed and land of the formerly free.”

Yes, healthcare for millions of Americans is a communist plot. Imagine that: access to medicine and doctors, not being refused medical care on account of pre-existing conditions, is a form of slavery.

Methinks we need some more of this communism if it protects us from corporatist/theocratic tyranny that would put our children back to work in factories and leave us with no drinkable water and no breathable air.

We know that the government (at all levels) has been successfully infiltrated by religious zealots and theocrats. Therefore, in Loudon’s mind – whether genuine or motivated by his pocketbook – the real enemy must be the liberals and progressives who oppose them.

While Hitler was busy destroying Germany, he was pointing the finger at everyone else too, including, especially, the communists. In Hitler’s mind, Bolshevism was inextricably entwined with Judiasm. In Loudon’s the connection is with Islam:

“While the Soviet Union has “recreated,” the U.S. Peace Council is still in existence, still run by communists and still doing its best to destroy the US military and weapon opposition to the remaining communist counties, Islamic extremism and “Third World” liberation movements” and it is “only a matter of time before the combined forces of Russia, China, Iran, Cuba, Venezuela, North Korea, Vietnam and their Islamic terrorist protégés come to dominate the planet.”

In the black and white world of Abrahamic monotheism, those who are not with you are against you. That means those who oppose the corporatist-theocratic agenda must be a bunch of commies, because everyone knows godless commies are Christian America’s worst enemy.

I guess this makes all the sense in the world, if you’re a twisted shill like Loudon, Beck, Limbaugh…or Corsi. The only thing I’m left uncertain of in reading this book is whether or not its more frightening that somebody might lie so creatively, or that they might believe their own lies.
