Former Democratic Lt. Gov. John Bohlinger entered the Montana US Senate race with a bang by explaining that he is running because the tea party is like the Taliban and must be stopped.

The Helena Montana Independent Record reported,

Bohlinger, 77, a Democrat from Helena, also said he was motivated to enter in the race after the 16-day partial government shutdown this fall.

“We need to challenge the tea party representatives who like the Taliban shut our country down,” Bohlinger told reporters, comparing it to the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941, and the terrorists’ actions on Sept. 11, 2001.

Just a few years ago saying anything bad about the tea party would have brought about howls from Republicans and the mainstream media. After seeing what a House of Representatives that is controlled by the tea party has done to this country, everyone shrugs and thinks that’s about right when they hear comments like Bohlinger’s. The reality is that the tea party isn’t as bad as the terrorists who murdered thousands on 9/11, but they are very good at harming people and destroying their own government.

The Democratic Party is backing current Lt. Gov. John Walsh in the election to replace retiring Sen. Max Baucus, but Bohlinger’s comments reveal how much the tea party has worn out their welcome even in a red state like Montana. The tea partiers shouldn’t be surprised that they are being compared to terrorists. When one adopts the tactics of a terrorist, they start to resemble a terrorist in the eyes of those that they are terrorizing.

America seems to be over the tea party, and as calls grow on both the left and right, it is clear that their ouster is coming soon.
