Republicans Never Learn: GOP Launches Sexist, Stupid Attack on Sen Mary Landrieu

It’s MussoLandrieu Gate. “MussoLandrieu” is the name of the image created by a conservative blogger and tweeted by a Republican Representative’s campaign manager.

Joel DiGrado, Representative Bill Cassidy’s (R-LA) campaign manager, tweeted a link to a blog post with Senator Mary Landrieu’s face on Benito Mussolini’s body yesterday:

Cassidy is running against Senator Mary Landrieu. The blogger at the Hayride wrote, “She (Mary Landrieu) was with the idea of trampling all over the rights of the Senate minority.”

The conservative blogger was up in arms and tossing around the Framers as if he had any idea what they intended. He seemed to believe they were all for the filibuster even though they left it out of the Constitution.

Still. A person just knows that the Framers were totes on the conservative side – they never intended for the Senate to pass actual legislation or confirm nominees. The idea was to have a non-functioning government held hostage by the tyranny of the minority. I believe this is referenced in the Bible, which as you may or may not be aware, is the document upon which this country was founded according to the totally sane Republican Party. God agrees with Republicans. He is always on their side.

Blogger “MacAoidh” was very upset that the Senate minority won’t be able to obstruct everything. Their “rights”, which magically don’t apply to the Democratic minority in the House in conservatives’ minds, are being trampled like Fascism!

Speaker John Boehner didn’t bother changing the rules in the House to render the Democratic minority toothless on legislation (the Senate rule changes only apply to judicial nominees and executive branch nominees). Boehner just made up a rule and began “enforcing” it. The press went along with this- it was not a “Republican power grab”. This is not Fascism because the Framers wanted the God party to have the power, so the voters’ choices are not relevant. See?

As if the direct election of Senators never happened and Senators were still appointed by the states, the blogger continued, “The Framers set up the Senate not as the People’s house – that body was to reside on the other side of the Capitol. No, the Framers wanted the Senate to represent the states.”

The Framers were also behind the 3/5 compromise. Change is hard for some people.

The blogger expressed this outrage at the Fascism of Harry Reid and Mary Landreiu by doing exactly what the Framers would have done. DUH. He put her head on Mussolini’s body. See, by refusing to pretend that Republicans won the Senate, Democrats are Fascists.

All of this delighted Justin Barasky, the National Press Secretary for the DSCC, who wondered, “When will GOP operatives realize that putting the head of female Dem candidates on other bodies is stupid?”

The answer, Justin, is not any time soon (see: GOP belief that rape shuts a woman’s body down). Republicans don’t leave juvenile humor to the base like the Democrats do. Oh, no. The Republicans lead with it, and the people in charge snicker over watermelons on the White House lawn like the very responsible adults they are not.

Justin may have thought that Republicans learned a lesson when they tweeted out oh so not sexist pictures of Alison Grimes’ head on the Obama Girl’s body, but no. Republicans can’t help themselves – they just love putting female Democrats’ heads on other bodies, just like they love to put Obama’s head on Osama bin Laden’s body. So fun. So not racist. So not sexist.

So stupid.
