Louisiana Democrats Outsmart David Vitter and Now Own His Website

david vitter for gov

Republican Senator David Vitter has been making waves about running for Governor of Louisiana for some time now. A Super PAC supporting the Senator and his conservative agenda for Louisiana is fueling speculation.

If he is going to run for Governor, he’s going to have some Google trouble.

If Vitter is planning to run for Governor and not Senator, he missed the chance to snag VitterforGovernor.com. The Democratic State Central Committee of Louisiana bought it. And it’s not exactly advertising what Vitter wants the public to see.

At Vitter for Governor, you will be greeted by a gory picture of Vitter gator hunting, because nothing says conservative like the glorification of killing for killings sake. This goes over well with the base, but others may find it repugnant.

Beneath the gory photo:

Was David Vitter hunting more than just alligators at a recent event sponsored by the Fund for Louisiana’s Future? The Fund for Louisiana’s Future is a shadowy super PAC, run by Charlie Spies, Vitter’s former campaign lawyer and the co-founder of the pro-Mitt Romney super PAC Restore Our Future.

Spies claims he doesn’t know if Vitter is planning on running for governor, but says, “We are eagerly watching for any indication.”

You might think this speculation is just Vitter’s ego talking, but by July he’d raised $750,000.00 in his SuperPAC.

The gubernatorial race is two years away, and if Vitter does run, he could face Rep. John Bel Edwards (D-Amite), the chairman of the House Democratic Caucus.

To the right, the sidebar lures voters to catch up on relevant Vitter news such as, “Will Democrats haul out hookers in David Vitter fight? Politico – Sept. 12, 2013”.

Vitter was busted during the 2007 DC Madam sex scandal as a frequent client of prostitutes, one who allegedly enjoyed wearing diapers. It is illegal to solicit prostitutes, but Republicans continue to defend Vitter. He’s even being backed in his possible run for governor by “conservatives”. They say they like his conservative stance on “energy” (bending over for oil companies is a conservative position).

Is there any criminal behavior the party of family values will denounce?

In recent years, Republicans have defended and re-elected Mark Sanford after he abandoned his post to chase his mistress in another country. Sanford was also the subject of numerous ethics scandals and was known to bend the rules in order to use the state plane to fly for haircuts.

Then Senator Ensign was forced to resign before facing a Senate investigation, but not before his ethical and perhaps legal problems surrounding the cover-up of his affair smeared Republican defenders Rick Santorum and Tom Coburn. Weeks ago, Florida Republican Trey Radel was arrested and pled guilty for buying cocaine from undercover officers, and Republicans in the US House insist on keeping his seat open for him.

Just imagine if David Vitter weren’t a very good friend to big oil. Can you imagine the kind of press he’d have faced? See Anthony Weiner if you’re confused, and remember, while clearly not well, Weiner did not break any laws. But Weiner isn’t a big enough friend of Big Oil/Jesus, so his sins are not forgiven. (Oil companies make up a large portion of ad dollars and ad dollars are given some power over what you are allowed to hear about as “news”.)

That’s the GOP’s America — a land in which they have no trouble considering running yet another cheating, family values hypocrite and criminal for Governor.

Let us know when you think the GOP has ceded its alleged moral high ground. The bad news for David Vitter is if he runs for Governor, the Democrats have made sure that Google will remind voters of his past, even if the press won’t.
