Tea Party Primary Challenger Matt Bevin Accuses Mitch McConnell of Turtling

Conservatives are aching to get rid of McConnell, who called them a bunch of “bullies”.

Matt Bevin is the “conservative Republican” running against ‘RINO’ Mitch McConnell in Kentucky. Bevin is using Twitter to put his foot down on McConnell, accusing him of being MIA since the Murray/Ryan budget was announced. Bevin is implying that McConnell is turtling until he knows which way the wind blows. Bevin tweeted today:

MISSING IN ACTION. DAY 2 since Ryan-Murray budget deal. McConnell STILL hasn’t told Kentuckians what he thinks. http://tinyurl.com/lffn7v4

#WheresMitch It’s been 43:39:20 since ‘Ryan-Murray’ budget was announced, still no word from McConnell. pic.twitter.com/qAz2oioVvB

Bevin seems like a long shot, but Breitbart.com noted, “Bevin won a resounding victory over Mitch McConnell at a Boone County GOP straw poll of 700 Republicans garnering 80% of the votes.” (This link comes with a huge add for boosting testosterone too!) Sadly, Bevin has only raised $160,000 to McConnell’s $9 million as of November per Breitbart.

Meanwhile, Mitch McConnell is tied in recent polls with Democratic Senatorial challenger Alison Grimes , though his campaign is trying to fix that by lobbing sexist attacks at Ms. Grimes.

On Bevin’s candidate website, Bevin compares himself to McConnell on the “issues”:

Debt Limit: Matt will not support an increase in the debt limit unless Congress passes a binding plan to balance the federal government’s budget in less than 10 years. Mitch has voted repeatedly to increase the debt limit. Over the past 16 years, Sen. McConnell has voted to increase the debt limit 9 times for a grand total of $6.7 trillion. (CRS Report, 02/15/13)

Spending: Matt believes the federal government has a spending problem – not a revenue problem. The more government taxes, the more it spends. Matt opposes tax increases. Mitch talks a good game on taxes, but he voted to increase taxes on 80 percent of Kentuckians in the recent fiscal cliff deal. (RC #251, 01/01/13)

Size of Government: Matt will fight for limited government policies and oppose the continued expansion of government programs. Matt wants to empower people at the local level, not the elites in Washington. Mitch continuously votes for larger federal government, including No Child Left Behind (RC#371, 12/18/01), Medicare Part D (RC #459, 11/25/03), and the 2007 energy bill that raised taxes and imposed new mandates on automakers. (RC #430, 12/13/07)

Bailouts: Matt opposes the special-interest bailouts that put big business and corporate lobbyists ahead of Kentucky taxpayers. Mitch McConnell voted to bail out the big Wall Street banks (RC #213, 10/01/08) and Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (RC #186, 07/26/08) on the backs of Kentucky taxpayers.

Amnesty: Matt will not support amnesty and will fight to secure our borders. Mitch voted for amnesty in 1986 & 2006. (RC #335, 10/17/86) (RC #157, 05/25/06) Mitch’s lack of leadership allowed another amnesty bill to sail through the U.S. Senate. (RC #168, 06/27/13)

So there you have it. Where’s Mitch? Probably waiting for Speaker Boehner to stop playing emboldened cowardly lion to the press. Just a guess.
