Just when you thought you have seen everything, this pops up. A church is leading their flock to Jesus by bribing, I mean raffling off two Black Rain AR-15 semi-auto in Joplin, Missouri.

According to Raw Story:

“If we get people in the door, we get to preach the gospel,” said Heath Mooneyham, Ignite’s lead pastor. “If we can get more people to follow Jesus, I’ll give away 1,000 guns. I don’t care.” The give-away was part of an outreach by Ignite Church to make inroads with the male age 18 to 35 demographic.

“That’s the biggest black hole in our society,” Mooneyham explained.

The church has already made adjustments in an attempt to draw a younger male crowd with Sunday services start later (10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.), loud rock music, and a tattooed mohawked pastor. “We’re not trying to put on a show for anybody,” Mooneyham said. “We’re just dudes. Previously the church has sponsored shooting and hunting outings.

They’re not trying to put a show for anybody? Why then all the zany ideas? It seemed to fail miserably, so the church went one step further and decided to give away two rifles. What’s next? A Rocket Propelled Grenade like the ones Al Qaeda and the Taliban uses against the U.S. soldiers? As a matter of fact:

VIDEO: Justice Scalia suggests hand-held rocket launchers protected under Second Amendment

Scalia is willing to allow the people to shoot RPGs or even carry it around in public. Wow, just think, even more armed Christians courtesy of the local churches that want to attract more people to their congregation. The sad thing is, this may be in violation of the church’s tax status, but most ministers couldn’t care less…they are also violating their own dogma according to their good book:

Matthew 26:52-54

Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword back into its place. For all who take the sword will perish by the sword. Do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father, and he will at once send me more than twelve legions of angels? But how then should the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must be so?”

Ephesians 6:12

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

None of these verses speak about taking arms nor did Jesus give His followers spears or swords, but to be humble and meek. But many speak about protection, and a firearm is merely a tool that can protect those for whom they love, so I guess

Psalms 23 vs. 4

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Doesn’t work well, even though in the same Bible they speak about reads the following passage:

Matthew 5: 3-12

3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit,

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4 Blessed are those who mourn,

for they will be comforted.

5 Blessed are the meek,

for they will inherit the earth.

6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,

for they will be filled.

7 Blessed are the merciful,

for they will be shown mercy.

8 Blessed are the pure in heart,

for they will see God.

9 Blessed are the peacemakers,

for they will be called children of God.

10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Why? Because according to their God:

Romans 12:19

Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, says the Lord.

Funny thing, liberals and atheists who don’t have firearms follow the Bible to a “T” and have no need for firearms. You’d think that they would be armed to the teeth, lo-and-behold, they have no fear of dying let alone getting robbed.

This is why I’m an atheist.
