John Boehner Screws The Republican Party With Harebrained Scheme to Deport 500,000 Kids

House Republicans still haven’t passed a bill to deal with the border crisis but they will be voting on a plan that would deport 500,000 children who have been living in the United States for most their lives.

The AP reported, “House Republicans pushed legislation on Friday that could clear the way for eventual deportation of more than 500,000 immigrants brought here illegally as kids and address the surge of immigrants at the U.S.-Mexico border.”

What does this have to do with the current crisis on the border? Nothing really. Republicans think that if they look tough by deporting a half of a million kids who have lived in this country for most of their lives, it will stop the surge of Central American children arriving at the Southern border.

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) championed the bill, “We were able to come to a point of 218 yes votes on what arguably is the most monumental vote that we will take in this entire term, and it’s dealing with the issue that the American people care about more than any other, and that is stopping the invasion of illegal foreign nationals into our country.”

House Republicans are oblivious to the cruelty behind their plan, and the message that they are sending to millions of voters that they hope to court if they are ever to win back the White House. This is desperate scheme that is based on lunatic reasoning that will only damage the Republican Party in the long-term.

Republicans aren’t thinking long-term. They are only interested in being able to go back to their districts and talk tough about what they did to get rid of the “illegals.” This sideshow is all about optics and what makes the Republican base happy. They are clueless fools, who will be alienating millions of 2014, 2016, and 2018 votes with a single vote that is designed to appeal to the immigrant hating segment of their party.

On the Senate floor, Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) pronounced Boehner’s bill DOA, “The House appears to be getting from bad to worse as the House Republican Majority hunts for votes. House Republicans will vote to deport children that have been living in the U.S. for their entire lives, all in a pathetic attempt to appease the Tea Party.”

John Boehner remains the best friend of the Democratic Party. As long as he keeps passing horrible bills, Democrats will continue to win elections.
