Like A Spoiled Child, Mitt Romney Is Threatening To Run For President Until He Wins

Mitt Romney

Seriously eying up another go at the White House, Mitt Romney reportedly told Wall Street executives “he would not defer to Bush as the standard-bearer of the establishment wing of the Republican Party.”

And you thought Mitt Romney only had contempt for half of America. Nope. The 2012 Republican nominee also has contempt for former governor Jeb Bush (R-FL), according to sources who spoke to Ben White and Maggie Haberman as reported in Politico , who also say that Romney is seriously considering another presidential run.

You see, Romney doesn’t think anyone else in the Republican field is good enough for the job.

After Mitt Romney hobnobbed with top Wall Street executives, said executives are convinced Mitt is considering 2016. This isn’t exactly new — Romney has been banging the door down for months now, preparing what would appear to be an ill-advised run against Democrat Hillary Clinton, whose foreign policy experience alone would bury the embarrassingly naive Romney who made a fool of himself internationally attempting to gain some foreign policy chops.

It sounded to an executive as if Romney feels he can win and “does not see anyone who does not look very beatable” in the field.

You have to admit, this sounds exactly like something Mitt Romney would think and be foolish enough to say. Just a few months ago he announced in his special tone deaf way — bordering on narcissistic confusion about appropriate public behavior — that he would be a better president than Obama or Hillary Clinton.

Plus, per Politico:

“I came away from the conversation with the distinct impression that he was running and that he did not think anyone in the field right now was particularly strong,” said one top executive who met with Romney and requested not to be identified while speaking about a private conversation.

Romney will not defer to Bush and he thinks Bush is vulnerable because of his investment funds (not a mirror to be found apparently):

…These executives said Romney indicated that he would not defer to Bush as the standard-bearer of the establishment wing of the Republican Party.

They also said Romney indicated that Bush would run into even more issues about his business dealings than Romney did over his private equity fortune in 2012. Bush’s latest investment funds, according to a Bloomberg Businessweek story published Thursday, include offshore tax havens and Chinese investors — an indication they would be an ongoing focus if the former Florida governor enters the race. (A Bush aide said in an email that “there are no offshore tax havens” and called the story’s conclusion “a huge and inappropriate leap.”)

Romney would have been referring to a Bloomberg article titled, “Jeb Bush Has a Mitt Romney Problem,” in which author Joshua Green explained, “Bush’s recent business ventures reveal that he shares a number of liabilities with the last nominee, Mitt Romney, whose career in private equity proved so politically damaging that it sunk his candidacy.” Green was referring to a “new offshore private equity fund, BH Global Aviation, which raised $61 million in September, largely from foreign investors” which appears to operate like a tax haven and allow investors to avoid playing by the rules (regulations).

A second executive who was described by Politico as “involved in the meetings” said Romney “does not think much of the current field”. He still views himself “as the leader of the establishment wing of the Republican Party. He does not feel he owes the Bushes anything and does not think Jeb is the de facto leader of the establishment GOP.”

The big money in the Republican Party has been trying to clear a path for a Romney 2016 run, so you can understand why Romney is peeved at Jeb Bush’s dynastic arrival on the scene.

Jason Easley reported for PoliticusUSA in June:

According to former Republican Rep. John LeBoutillier, there are a series of conditions being worked on to get the 2012 nominee the 2016 nomination, “Mitt Romney wants the GOP donor class to pledge all the money to him — up front — as a means of scaring other possible serious candidates out of the race so that he can preserve the money for the general election. He wants the field cleared — the same way the Democratic field is being cleared right now for Hillary — so that he, too, can arrive at the GOP convention Fresh, Full of money and ready to Feast on Hillary — and President Obama’s — record. If these conditions are met, he will make a third run for the White House.”

Romney blamed the primary process for his loss, and he obviously feels entitled to the same treatment as Hillary Clinton is getting from many in the Democratic Party, although much of Hillary Clinton’s support comes from the base and not just the establishment types. She’s had a loyal base of supporters for decades. They aren’t exactly on the same playing field, but Romney has never excelled at accurately accessing his place in room, let alone politics.

Petulant, arrogant, entitled, and blind to his own faults? Yup. That’s our Mitt.

It’s his turn… again. And again. And again. Until he wins. Third time’s the charm? Buckle up.
