Democratic 2016 presidential front-runner Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton has set a record by raising more money than any other primary candidate’s first quarter in history.
Brett LoGiurato reported at Business Insider via MSN News:
Clinton is on track to raise more than $45 million in the April-June fundraising quarter, a Clinton campaign official said Wednesday. That would be more than any other primary candidate’s first quarter in history. At $41.9 million during its first quarter in 2011, President Barack Obama’s campaign held the previous record.

The Clinton campaign official said that 91% of the donations came from people giving $100 or less. Clinton, on Twitter, posted that she was “especially proud” of that figure.
It matters where the money is coming from, because Republicans primarily raise money from big donors and PACs with dark corporate money, whereas certain Democrats and Independents raise money from actual people.
(1/3) Still running the numbers—but here's what we know: In the first quarter of this campaign, supporters gave more than $45 million. -H

That tweet linked to this one, which was getting all kinds of angry snark from conservatives and replies conservative journalists who were trying to find a hole in this stunning news:
91% of all @HillaryClinton donations were $100 or less. Thanks so much people.

Clinton has even hand-written thank you notes to her supporters:

As America’s Most Hated Donald Trump rockets to number two in the polls for Republicans, just under establishment favorite Jeb Bush, Republicans have to be terrified to see these figures. Republicans hope to make an issue of the liberal and independent force supporting Senator Bernie Sanders, but what they are ignoring is that Sanders is also raising money from individuals.
Taken together, what this means is the money from the people is going largely to candidates that actually support policies for the people. If this keeps up, Republicans have a lot to fear.
Hillary Clinton just blew past the record set by President Barack Obama in 2011, with small donations from actual voters. That’s a lot of voters.
