Trump Proves at GOP Debate He Has no Respect for Women

Douglas Schoen in an op-ed at FoxNews.com called it “A debate with no losers,” and said “Republicans should be proud.” But there were ten losers, who were all proud to be dishonest shills, and Republicans should be ashamed.

Donald Trump, like the other candidates, was willing to lie, and he proved to co-moderator Megyn Kelly at last night’s GOP debate that he has the same cave man attitude toward women as any other Republican candidate.

The exchange with Kelly went as follows:

Megyn Kelly: “You’ve called women you don’t like ‘fat pigs, dogs, slobs and disgusting animals.'”

Donald Trump: [smiling] “Only Rosie O’Donnell.” [applause] “Thank you.”

Megyn Kelly: “No it wasn’t” [continued applause] “For the record, it was well beyond Rosie O’Donnell.

Donald Trump: “Yes, I’m sure it was.

Megyn Kelly: “Your Twitter account has several disparaging comments about women’s looks. You once told a contestant on ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ it would be a pretty picture to see her on her knees. Does that sound to you like the temperament of a man we should elect as president? And how will you answer the charge with Hillary Clinton, who is likely to be the Democratic nominee, that you are part of the war on women?”

Schoen claims in his op-ed that “they treated each other – and the voters they’re trying to win over – respectfully,” but Donald Trump then went off the rails, managing to be even more offensive, and even taking an ominous toward Megyn Kelly, while at the same time proving his hypocrisy with regards to China and Mexico, where he pays foreign workers to manufacture his clothing line:

I think the big problem this country has is being politically correct. I’ve been challenged by so many people, and I don’t frankly have time for total political correctness. And to be honest with you, this country doesn’t have time, either. This country is in big trouble. We don’t win anymore. We lose to China. We lose to Mexico, both in trade and at the border. We lose to everybody.

And frankly, what I say, and oftentimes it’s fun, it’s kidding. We have a good time. What I say is what I say. And honestly, Megyn, if you don’t like it, I’m sorry. I’ve been very nice to you, although I could probably maybe not be, based on the way you have treated me. But I wouldn’t do that.

In addressing Megyn Kelly, Trump sounds like a mob boss talking to a disappointing underling, hinting at future repercussions.

So our big problem is not immigration after all, but political correctness? We don’t have time to be polite to each other? So Donald Trump’s misogyny is justified by his exporting of jobs to China and Mexico? This counts as a cogent argument for the Republican Party?

Now granted, all the Republican candidates save Rand Paul agreed we also lack time for diplomacy, and Ben Carson said last night we don’t even have time for the Geneva Convention, so perhaps within a Republican context, Trump was not out of bounds.

Yet his answer shows that Donald Trump is not presidential material. Can you imagine Barack Obama, who also has daughters, talking to or about women in this way? Fox News would be the first to condemn him.

You must remember that this is the same Donald Trump who on March 6, 2006, appeared on ABC’s The View. When asked by Star Jones what he would do if he saw his daughter Ivanka on the cover of Playboy, Trump’s answer shows that nothing has changed in the past nine years.

After initially saying it would be disappointing, but depend upon what was inside the magazine, Trump said,

“I don’t think Ivanka would do that [pose for nude photographs] inside the magazine. Although she does have a very nice figure. I’ve said that if Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps, I would be dating her.”

The entire panel laughs, including Invanka and The Donald, and you can hear Trump ask, “Is that terrible?”

Joy Behar let it slide with a joke, which to be fair, was perhaps all she could do under the circumstances. After all, here is a man, joking or otherwise, who has created the impression he would be eagerly turning the pages of the magazine.

“Who are you, Woody Allen?”

They all laughed. Including Trump, who knew he’d earned the jibe: “That’s very good.”

So all in fun, perhaps, from their point of view, and not to be taken seriously, but just to be on the safe side, Trump’s people issued one of their clarifications, with Jim Dowd telling the Associated Press, that Trump “was absolutely joking.”

“He was making fun of himself for his tendency to date younger women. It’s a sense of humor that people don’t see (from him) all the time.”

Certainly, the party that has positioned itself as the moral compass of the nation ought to consider Trumps’ attitude toward women carefully. Even if only for appearances sake, because we all know full well they have the same level of respect for women as Trump.

But think for a minute about how they would all be reacting if these words had come from the mouth of Barack H. Obama. And then let’s talk again about their opposition to moral relativism and degeneracy.

That’s right: it’s the GOP, the party of hypocrites and misogynists. And Donald Trump is the face of that Party. Congratulations, Fox News.
