On CNN’s State Of The Union, Sarah Palin didn’t know that “American” is not a language. She urged immigrants who come to this country to “speak American.”

Palin said, “You know, I think we can send a message and say, you wanna be in America? A). You better be here legally, or you’re out of here. B). Let’s speak American. I mean let’s speak English. That’s kind of a unifying aspect of a nation is the language that is understood by all. But, you know, I took Spanish in high school, and I took French in high school. I shouldn’t have taken them both because I got ’em all mixed up by the time I was graduating.”

It feels like all the years of Sarah Palin gaffes have led up to this one. It all makes sense now. Sarah Palin doesn’t speak English like the rest of us. She speaks American, but there is no such language as American.

This woman was poised to be one creaky John McCain heartbeat away from the presidency, and she doesn’t know that there is no American language. We speak English in this country, and from my personal experience, I can tell you that the majority of immigrants that I have met speak better English than Sarah Palin.

It is a shame that CNN gave airtime to the Republican Party’s washed-up rodeo clown, but Palin is useful in the respect that she voices the ignorance within the Republican Party. Just like the media refuses to believe that racism and bigotry are fueling the rise of Donald Trump, they have refused to believe that intellectual void that is Sarah Palin represents large swaths of the GOP.

Sarah Palin is a national embarrassment, but she is a mirror of the Republican Party.
