The writing was on the wall before the caucuses was held as a familiar 2016 pattern repeated itself.

The Seattle Times reported on the massive turnout for the caucus, “Big crowds overwhelmed some Democratic precinct caucus locations Saturday, with early reports of heavy turnout and many precincts favoring Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders over former secretary of state Hillary Clinton. At Seattle’s Town Hall, the 900-capacity meeting space couldn’t accommodate all the caucus-goers trying to squeeze in, leaving some precincts to meet in the parking lot.”

Bernie Sanders needed big wins to have a chance to succeed on his narrow path to be the Democratic nominee. Sanders has a good chance today of picking up the 58% or more of the pledged delegates all three of today’s contests that he needs to cut into former Sec. of State Clinton’s delegate lead.

Sanders is likely to get 7 out of 10, or more delegates in Washington. Bernie Sanders could shave as many as 75-80 off of Hillary Clinton’s pledged delegate.

If Bernie Sanders sweeps on Western Saturday, he will show why he is still viable for the Democratic nomination. The road is difficult for Sanders, but it is possible, which is why the contest for the Democratic nomination is far from decided.
