Bernie Sanders celebrated his two big caucus victories in Washington and Alaska by destroying Gov. Scott Walker and the Koch brothers during a rally in Madison, Wisconsin.
Sen. Sanders said:
Democracy means one person and one vote and whether Gov. Scott Walker likes it or not that is exactly what we are going to bring to every state in this country, including Wisconsin. And I say to Gov. Walker and all of the other cowardly Republican governors if you can not win or participate in a free and fair election where everybody votes, get out of politics and get a new job.
At a time when this country has one of the lowest voter turnouts of any major country on Earth, the idea that Gov. Walker or any other governor would make it harder for people to participate in the political process is beyond comprehension, and together are we not only going to overturn this disastrous Citizens United Supreme Court decision, but we are going to create a situation where everyone in this country eighteen years of age or older who is a citizen will have the right to vote, Scott Walker notwithstanding.(Continued Below)
When we have nationally a situation where the Koch brothers and a handful of billionaires. Oh, I forgot. I hope I didn’t offend the governor. I understand that he and the Koch brothers are good pals. But when you have the Koch brothers and a handful of billionaires prepared to spend $900 billion in this election cycle, that my friends is not democracy. That is oligarchy, and we will change that.
I know that our Republican friends and elected officials tremble at the idea of large numbers of Americans participating in the political process. I’ve got bad news for them. That is exactly what is going to happen in this country.
Gov. Scott Walker is the opposite of everything that Sen. Sanders stands for. Walker has been a model puppet for the billionaire oligarchs. His administration has put the constitutional liberties and priorities of the hard working people of his state last. Walker is a Koch favorite who represents everything that is wrong with both Republican governance and the nation’s corrupt campaign finance system.
There was no better way for Bernie Sanders to celebrate his victories in Alaska and Washington that come into Scott Walker’s backyard and tear the governor a new one.
Sen. Sanders is everything that Republicans fear. He is telling the truth and mobilizing millions of Americans behind his message. Sanders is bringing new people into the political process. While Scott Walker has failed the people of Wisconsin, Bernie Sanders is leading a political revolution against everything that the Republican governor represents, and the people who keep him in power.
