Hillary Clinton was declared the winner of the Maryland Democratic primary shortly after the polls closed.
The polls in Maryland showed Hillary Clinton running away with the state. Clinton’s lead ranged from 22 to 25 points over Bernie Sanders. As Nate Silver pointed out at FiveThirtyEight, Hillary Clinton is winning the states that most look like the Democratic Party. Clinton won in North Carolina, Virginia and Texas, and all of those states have Democratic primary electorates that look like the Democratic Party as a whole.
Hillary Clinton had Maryland locked up from the beginning. The former Sec. of State picked up the second-biggest delegate state of the evening in what could be a very big night for Clinton.
