Sen. Sanders delivered many of his same now standard talking points and said that he is optimistic about the future of the country because so many young people have come on board and are supporting his campaign. Sanders said, “Our vision will be the future of America.”

Sanders said that right-wing Republicans won’t be allowed to control our government and singled out Donald Trump. Sen. Sanders promised to continue the fight in next Tuesday’s Washington, DC primary. Sanders said that he is going to fight on, and fight hard to win the DC primary, and then he vowed to take the fight for racial, social, environmental, and economic justice to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Sanders called the fight ahead of him steep but vowed to fight for every vote and every delegate.

Sanders acknowledged phone calls from President Obama and Hillary Clinton, and said, “Our fight is to transform this country and to understand that we are in this together. To understand that all of what we believe is the majority of what the American people believe, and to understand that the struggle continues.” Sanders thanked his supporters for victories in North Dakota and Montana and expressed the expectation that the gap will narrow in California. Sanders thanked the crowd and promised that the struggle continues.

Sen. Sanders didn’t criticize Clinton in the speech, but he did emphasize his political movement. Sanders is going to keep going even if the political world moves on to the general election. Bernie Sanders is out to transform America via a populist movement. There is something bigger at stake than the Democratic nomination. Sanders spent more time criticizing Trump than mentioning the Democratic race.

Bernie Sanders is going to the convention. His end goal is to shape the future of the Democratic Party, and the tone of his speech suggests that he is still trying to fight for the nomination.
