The Trump campaign surrogates are getting pretty desperate, so they’re falling prey to their own sexism and the trickle down sexism from Trump Tower.
Donald Trump’s campaign manager Kellyanne Conway mimicked the irony-impairment of Melania Trump by accusing Hillary Clinton of running the “nastiest, most substance-free campaign in final days. Even sadder? Comes from a woman.”
Apparently it’s okay when Donald Trump has no consistent policies and suggests that Hillary Clinton might be shot if she wins in order to protect the second amendment, because he’s a man.

But if a woman fights about policy and temperament in a battle for the White House, it’s sad according to the outdated values of the Trump campaign manager.

What’s even sadder is that a smart woman like Kellyanne Conway is charged with defending a man who bragged about sexually assaulting women and whom 12 women have come forward to accuse of sexually assaulting them.
Friday at a Donald Trump rally, John Sununu, former Governor of New Hampshire and former White House Chief of Staff under President George H. W. Bush, said at a Donald Trump rally, “Bill was referring to Hillary when he said, ‘I did not have sex with that woman.'”

Yeah, that’s totally winning. To be clear, this is a former Governor attacking Hillary Clinton like he’s in a juvenile locker room, thinking he’s hitting her by claiming her husband doesn’t have sex with her. So, any woman politician is the sum total of whether or not her husband wants to have sex with her.
Thanks, Republicans, for mainstreaming this kind of antiquated sexism in 2016 and dragging us all back. Way, way back.
It got worse. Newsday’s Emily Ngo reported:
Former Sen. Bob Smith impersonates Bill Clinton, says of HRC: "If she goes to jail, I will be free as a bird to do what I wanna do."

Har har, the good old boys joking about the little woman ball and chain – reducing the first woman candidate for president on a major party ticket to wife because she’s a woman, as if she is not in fact the most qualified person to run for the office in modern history. So fresh! So big tent!
Why is the Trump campaign attacking Hillary Clinton via her husband like out-of-date, misogynistic pigs who belong in a club with Archie Bunker? Because they are losing. These are the angry, helpless squeals of a dying campaign:
Energy level is much lower at this Trump rally in Atkinson, NH, so one opening speaker jokes that it feels like a Clinton event

Hillary Clinton’s gender seems to be a really big issue on the Trump side. But then, it has to hurt to be losing to a girl, especially one who is smarter, more competent, and more qualified by a long shot.
