Sen. Wyden was on the money. History will not forgive those who delayed or hid the facts. By interfering in the election, the Russian government has attempted to undermine democracy, which makes this investigation about something vastly more important than the outcome of a presidential election.

The foundation of our system of government is under threat. It is mindboggling that the president-elect would dismiss a matter so vital to the country which he is about to take leadership of. All materials must be declassified and publicly released immediately.

It is understandable that President Obama does not want to turn the investigation into a partisan issue, but the protection of our democratic system of governance is a matter beyond partisanship.

There are legitimate fears that the truth may never be revealed if the Obama administration does not make available the materials before Trump takes office. The news that both the DNI and the FBI agree with the CIA’s conclusion that Russia interfered in the election to help Donald Trump win should motivate every member of Congress to demand the release of all materials.

The American people need answers, and they must have them before Donald Trump takes the oath of office.
