Trump Opens His Mouth And Screws Over Republicans On Obamacare Repeal

President-elect Trump isn’t going to be a team player with Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell. Trump has made a series of vague promises about how he has his own Obamacare replacement plan that sounds more like Bernie Sanders than the GOP. By promising something Republicans have no intention of passing, Trump just screwed over his own party.

In an interview with The Washington Post, Trump could help gushing about another one of his secret plans. This time it was his plan to replace Obamacare:

“We’re going to have insurance for everybody,†Trump said. “There was a philosophy in some circles that if you can’t pay for it, you don’t get it. That’s not going to happen with us.†People covered under the law “can expect to have great health care. It will be in a much simplified form. Much less expensive and much better.â€

“It’s not going to be their plan,†he said of people covered under the current law. “It’ll be another plan. But they’ll be beautifully covered. I don’t want single-payer. What I do want is to be able to take care of people,†he said Saturday.

Trump is promising universal coverage that people don’t have to pay extra to get, but it isn’t single payer. This is the exact opposite of what Republicans in Congress are planning to do.

Rep. Bill Huizenga (R-MI) told his constituents that people are going to have spend more money out of their own pockets and use less healthcare.
Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-WI) is floating a plan that would give people less healthcare, and those with pre-existing conditions would be placed into a state-run high-risk pool. Ryan’s plan would also cap benefits for every American, no matter what type of insurance they have.

Donald Trump’s mouth has written a check that Republicans in Congress can’t cash. Republicans have no intention of maintaining insurance for all of the ACA plan holders. In fact, privately, Republicans admit that millions of people are going to lose their coverage under the replacement.

Every single Congressional Republican will now be asked if their replacement plan covers everyone as Trump promised.

Republicans have no Obamacare replacement, and Trump’s pie in the sky promises have given Democrats all the ammo that they need to nail Republicans to the wall once people begin losing their health insurance.

Trump’s imaginary replacement plan is one of the best things to happen to Democrats in the fight to replace Obamacare.
