Lost in Trump’s tweetstorm this morning attacking President Obama was his attack on Arnold Schwarzenegger, who the other day announced he was leaving as host of Apprentice because of the show’s tainted association with Donald Trump.
Schwarzenegger told Empire Magazine in an interview published yesterday,
“With Trump being involved in the show, people have a bad taste and don’t want to participate as a spectator or as a sponsor or in any other way support the show. It’s a very divisive period now, and I think this show got caught up in all that division.â€
The Trump just told us the other day that “The time for trivial fights is behind us,” he tweeted a snarky claim that Schwarzenegger had not, in fact, resigned, but had been fired:

Arnold Schwarzenegger isn't voluntarily leaving the Apprentice, he was fired by his bad (pathetic) ratings, not by me. Sad end to great show

In response, the Governator tweeted,
You should think about hiring a new joke writer and a fact checker. https://t.co/SvAjuPdHfa

Trump cannot help himself and his desire to get back at those who slight him overwhelms any sense of caution he might possess, leaving himself open to his would-be victim’s riposte, which as Schwarzenegger has demonstrated, need only be a simple statement of fact.
Schwarzenegger told Empire Magazine, “I learned a lot, I had a great time, it was a really great opportunity.”
In the end, that may be a great deal more than Trump can say about his experience as president of the United States.
