The Day Of Trump’s Russia Reckoning Has Arrived As Robert Muller Is Appointed Special Counsel

Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein has appointed former FBI Director Robert Muller to serve as special counsel to oversee the investigation into Trump’s ties with Russia.

Rosenstein said in a statement making the announcement, “In my capacity as acting attorney general I determined that it is in the public interest for me to exercise my authority and appoint a special counsel to assume responsibility for this matter. My decision is not a finding that crimes have been committed or that any prosecution is warranted. I have made no such determination. What I have determined is that based upon the unique circumstances, the public interest requires me to place this investigation under the authority of a person who exercises a degree of independence from the normal chain of command.”

Robert Mueller is the real deal. He was the former FBI Director under both President George W. Bush and President Barack Obama. Mueller has an outstanding reputation, and most importantly, is not connected to Donald Trump in any way.

A special counsel has been appointed that wasn’t on the Trump campaign and has no ties to the administration. Mueller is the first truly independent investigator to look at the relationship between Trump and Russia.
