Rachel Maddow Viewership Soars To Nearly 3 Million As Trump Russia Scandal Grows

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow has become the nation’s go-to program for insight into the Trump/Russia scandal as she dominated with nearly 3 million viewers on Thursday evening.

The Rachel Maddow Show was the most watched primetime program on cable news with 2.94 million viewers. In second place for the evening was Fox News’s Tucker Carlson with 2.658 million viewers. Hardball with Chris Matthews finished just 7,000 viewers short of winning its timeslot over Fox News at 7 PM ET. The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell finished number one with 2.496 million viewers compared to 2.446 million for Fox News’s Hannity. The straggler in the MSNBC lineup remains All In With Chris Hayes which lost to Fox News by more than 600,000 viewers at 8 PM ET.

Rachel Maddow’s show is the fuel that is powering the MSNBC rating surge. More than any other cable news show, Maddow has devoted her program to in-depth coverage of the Trump/Russia scandal. Maddow doesn’t try to cover all of the news of the day, but instead, dives deeply into three or so very important developments. The Rachel Maddow Show has become the long form forum for analysis of the Trump presidency.

Viewers who want to really understand what is going on with the Russia scandal are tuning into Maddow each night.
