After Being Busted Stealing from Kids with Cancer, Eric Trump Says Democrats Aren’t People

Eric Trump, the son of the President of the United States, said that Democrats aren’t even people Tuesday night on Fox News, hours after he was busted for taking money he said would go to kids with cancer to feed the Trump family and organizations.

Watch here via Fox News:

Eric Trump was no doubt so angry because Forbes published an amazing story of grifting Tuesday, showing how the Eric Trump Foundation was used to funnel money back to the Trump Organization.

That is to say, Trump got busted using money donated for kids with cancer to feed the bottomless con of the Trump family. Additionally, Eric Trump bragged about offering the Trump assets for free when actually they charged over a million dollars, according to the bombshell report by Forbes published Tuesday that in any normal administration would have consumed all of the headlines for an entire month, but went largely unnoticed in the chaotic streams of Trump news.

Here’s how the scam worked via Dan Alexander at Forbes:

That’s not the case. In reviewing filings from the Eric Trump Foundation and other charities, it’s clear that the course wasn’t free–that the Trump Organization received payments for its use, part of more than $1.2 million that has no documented recipients past the Trump Organization. Golf charity experts say the listed expenses defy any reasonable cost justification for a one-day golf tournament.

Additionally, the Donald J. Trump Foundation, which has come under previous scrutiny for self-dealing and advancing the interests of its namesake rather than those of charity, apparently used the Eric Trump Foundation to funnel $100,000 in donations into revenue for the Trump Organization.

And while donors to the Eric Trump Foundation were told their money was going to help sick kids, more than $500,000 was re-donated to other charities, many of which were connected to Trump family members or interests, including at least four groups that subsequently paid to hold golf tournaments at Trump courses.

The Trump family can’t stop whining about being scrutinized, but this is what they signed up for when their father ran for president, and instead of doing what every other president has done, Trump refused to disclose his taxes or actually cut ties with his conflicting business interests.

Those choices create more scrutiny for good reason, unlike say pretending someone who was born in Hawaii wasn’t really born there for eight years because you either can’t read or don’t understand how to discriminate a conspiracy from reality.

The Trump family reaction to being scrutinized is to blame liberals, Democrats, the left, — much like the Republican Party has been doing for years, only on steroids that surpass even Sarah Palin’s dexterity with presenting herself as the victim as she dog whistled her way through her political career, such as it was.

Republicans are vilifying Democrats and liberals, including on the House floor, as if to call someone a liberal, a “lefty”, a Democrat, is to justify poor treatment of them.

Republicans are also repeatedly conflating the press with the left and Democrats, in order to suggest the press is part of the opposition, and thus suggest the reports about their party and president are partisan attacks instead of actual reporting of facts:

It doesn’t matter what the “name” is of the “othering”, whether it’s black people, Jewish people, women, the press, Democrats — it’s using “others” as a scapegoat for political purposes, to dangerous ends, as we witnessed in Montana after Republican Representative Greg Gianforte assaulted a reporter after being asked about the Republican healthcare plan that would kill thousands of Americans — in other words, a part of the job Gianforte signed up for.

The left didn’t make Eric Trump take money from kids with cancer to use for the Trump family. Democrats didn’t make Eric Trump take money from kids with cancer. Eric Trump did that on his own. If the Trump family wanted to keep stealing from people without consequence, Donald Trump becoming President of a democratic country wasn’t the best plan.
