Chuck Schumer Tears Apart TrumpCare and the GOP As Democrats Fight For Healthcare

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) detailed his concerns regarding TrumpCare in a new statement from the floor of the Senate.

Yesterday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) filed a motion to skip the committee process and instead “bring Trumpcare directly to the floor.” Schumer brought up many reasons why these actions by McConnell trouble him. He stated the hypocrisy of these senators that “screamed from the rafters ‘read the bill’†during the Affordable Care Act debates, and are now planning a new healthcare bill “behind closed doors” and are rushing to get it passed.

Schumer did not stop there. He called the bill one “that will alter one sixth of the American economy and affect tens of millions of American lives” and would have “life or death consequences” to some American citizens. They are doing this all behind closed doors because according to Schumer “They don’t want the American people to see their bill” and react to the serious problems that it could potentially cause for the American people.

Schumer concluded by calling out GOP congressmen to “drop their repeal efforts, and instead work with Democrats” on improving the healthcare system. He reminded the American people that these congressmen are not “asking for Democratic input” and are being obstructive to the objective of providing healthcare to all.
