Trump offered up the strange and unconstitutional notion that the doesn’t apply to him before he took office. In a November 2016 interview with The New York Times, Trump claimed that he is above the law. The Trump administration has acted like they were above the law with the Muslim ban executive order and other actions that they have taken.
The President doesn’t just believe in an imperial presidency. He believes in an unlimited imperial presidency that is above the Constitution. Donald Trump is Richard Nixon’s view of presidential power on a powerful mixture of steroids and crack.
As Rep. Lieu pointed out, no one is above the law. Trump’s view of power had gotten him in trouble repeatedly, but this time he has crossed a line that can and may get him thrown out of office.
