By blocking all unanimous requests by Republicans, trying to force a vote on the unpopular House passed Trumpcare bill, and forcing debate to go late into the night with speeches, Democrats are going to do everything that they can to prevent Mitch McConnell from getting a vote on his secret healthcare bill before his self-imposed 4th of July recess deadline. The reason why McConnell wants the vote before the holiday is to avoid Republicans having to confront angry constituents over the break.
McConnell also wants to get healthcare out of the way, so that he can move on to tax cuts.
Democrats are standing up, and aren’t going to let Republicans roll their secret health care bill through the legislative process without a fight.
The message is clear. If Republicans want to get a healthcare bill through the Senate, they are going to have to make the bill public, and hold hearings. Anything less is going to hit a Democratic brick wall.
