Trump Just Suffered A New Crushing Defeat On His Muslim Ban 2.0

The Trump administration lost their bid to include extended families in their Muslim ban 2.0 in federal court on Thursday.

Politico reported, “An appeals court on Thursday rejected the Trump administration’s attempt to deny grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins of Americans an exemption from President Donald Trump’s travel ban executive order. A three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously declined to overturn a district court judge’s ruling that the administration was taking too narrow a view of an exception the Supreme Court carved out from the travel ban in June.”

Just because they are no longer talked about on cable news, or on the front page of newspapers doesn’t mean that the Trump administration’s efforts to discriminate have stopped. Trump is constantly pushing the boundaries and trying to find new and different ways to either kick immigrants out or keep them from entering the country.

The Muslim ban is an unpopular policy that has fared poorly in the courts.

The idea that the administration would try to broaden a ban to include extended families goes against the values of the country. Through his DACA action and Muslim ban, it is clear that the guiding principle of the president leading the formerly self-styled party of family values is the breaking up of families.

Trump continues to try to ban more Muslims and he keeps losing in court as the governing institutions of our nation continue to function and check this president.
