Paul Ryan Wigs Out And Claims That There Is No Agreement On DACA

As Trump and the Democrats have negotiated the framework of a deal on DACA, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-WI) is wigging out and trying to walk everything back by claiming that there is no deal.

Video:

Ryan said, “There is no agreement. The President and the Chief of Staff called me from Air Force One today to discuss what was discussed, and it was a discussion, not an agreement or a negotiation.”

After delivering some Republican boilerplate about border security, Ryan dove into some nonsensical spin, “We have not begun negotiations. What we are doing is talking among ourselves here in our majority to make sure that we are on the same page ourselves before we proceed with all of these things, and it’s right and proper that the President talks with the other party. These were discussions, not negotiations. There isn’t an agreement.”

Do you know wasn’t invited to the White House for discussions last night? Paul Ryan.

Trump is doing an end around on Ryan and McConnell, and the Speaker of the House was clearly trying to save face. Paul Ryan is wigging out because Trump already committed he and Mitch McConnell to support a deal that they haven’t been invited to talk about.

The President is cutting deals with Democrats because he learned during the debt ceiling deal that Republicans complain, but they will mostly go along with whatever he agrees to. Ryan is losing power because Trump is working around him, and that is why the Speaker of the House was in wigged out spin mode trying to dismiss a potential DACA deal.
