Trump’s Twitter Account Broke Down For Five Minutes And The World Rejoiced

Donald Trump’s Twitter account broke down on Thursday night, and the world immediately rejoiced – for five minutes, at least.

According to several reports, it was unclear what caused the brief outage of Trump’s page, which boasts over 40 million followers, and Twitter has yet to explain whether the account was hacked or it was a technical glitch.

Either way, it was a glorious five minutes for humankind.

As the Verge pointed out on Thursday, “During this time, the president was unable to tweet insults, boasts, odd syntax, or misinformation about terrorism.”

The reaction from the internet more broadly was nothing short of priceless:

Given the offensive and often reckless nature of Trump’s tweets over the years, many people had just assumed that Twitter finally had enough and canned his account. Much to the chagrin of the world, though, it was quickly back online.

According to TIME, Trump and the White House have yet to issue an official response to the incident – but perhaps the president will take to Twitter soon to address it.

There are very few things Donald Trump does or could do – besides resign, maybe – that evoke the type of response we saw on Thursday night, but it was certainly nice while it lasted.
