The White House is trying to distance Trump by Mike Flynn’s crimes by referring to Flynn as a former Obama official in a statement.
Trump’s lawyer Ty Cobb issued this statement that was provided to PoliticusUSA:
Today, Michael Flynn, a former National Security Advisor at the White House for 25 days during the Trump Administration, and a former Obama administration official, entered a guilty plea to a single count of making a false statement to the FBI.
The false statements involved mirror the false statements to White House officials which resulted in his resignation in February of this year. Nothing about the guilty plea or the charge implicates anyone other than Mr. Flynn. The conclusion of this phase of the Special Counsel’s work demonstrates again that the Special Counsel is moving with all deliberate speed and clears the way for a prompt and reasonable conclusion.

Trump’s legal defense is to blame Obama.
Unfortunately for the President, the blame Obama strategy is not likely to hold up well in court.
It is easy to see what Trump is trying to do here:
1). Mike Flynn? I barely knew the guy.
2). Mike Flynn’s crimes are his own.
3). It’s all Obama’s fault.
Mike Flynn was in the inner circle of the Trump campaign, transition, and White House. Trump also neglected to mention that Obama fired Mike Flynn, and Obama personally warned Trump about Flynn.
If Trump did direct Flynn Russia contacts, the President is going down. The more Mike Flynn talks, the sooner Trump’s time in office could come to an end.
