Voters Want Democrats Running Congress After Republicans Pass Tax Cuts For The Rich

A new Quinnipiac University Poll suggests that a Democratic wave is building in 2018, as voters overwhelmingly want Democrats in control of Congress.

There are two key parts to the Quinnipiac University Poll. Voters aren’t buying what Republicans are selling on tax cuts, “In a separate question, voters say 61 – 34 percent that the tax plan favors the rich at the expense of the middle class. The plan will increase their taxes, 41 percent of voters say, while 20 percent say the plan will reduce their taxes and 32 percent say the plan will not have much impact on their taxes.”

Trump and the GOP are failing to convince anyone that their tax bill is a plan that is targeted toward the middle-class. People understand what the plan is, and they are very clear on who will benefit from it.

This is part of the reason why voters want Democrats in control of Congress, “American voters say 50 – 36 percent, including 44 – 36 percent among independent voters that they would like the Democrats to win control of the U.S. House of Representatives in 2018. Voters also say 51 – 37 percent, including 45 – 38 percent among independent voters, that they would like Democrats to win control of the U.S. Senate in 2018.”

Republicans told themselves that tax cuts for the wealthy would save their Congressional majority. They were selling themselves a lie. The tax cut bill is going to destroy their majority, not save it.
