Fox News Says It Won’t Be Saving Bannon From Unemployment

Following Steve Bannon’s ouster from the alt-right news website Breitbart on Tuesday, MSNBC’s Joy Reid tweeted, “He’s gonna need a new apartment… and a new source of income.” She’s right.

Unfortunately for Bannon, at least one conservative media company has already announced that it won’t be giving him a new job — Fox News. A spokesperson for the network confirmed the decision to The Hill.

Given the mutual disdain Bannon and Rupert Murdoch —  executive chairman at 21st Century Fox — have for each other, as well as Bannon’s expressed hatred for the mainstream media, the news isn’t too shocking.

Bannon’s fall from grace within right-wing circles was rapid. Last week, after the former White House deputy chief of staff and Trump campaign strategist was quoted describing Donald Trump Jr.’s meeting with a Russian lawyer “treasonous,” the president quickly released a searing statement against him. The billionaire Mercer family, perhaps Bannon’s most important financial backer, also cut ties.

Like many of Trump’s former staffers, Bannon learned this week that criticizing a narcissist — or, in this case, as narcissist’s son — leads to excommunication, regardless of how good the relationship ever was. Still, there’s no room for pity for Bannon, especially after how tirelessly he worked to push white supremacy in the U.S., using Breitbart and his influence inthe White House as his primary tools.
