While a responsible American president might be concerned about the threat of a looming government shutdown, Donald Trump took to Twitter on Wednesday night to announce the winners of his “Fake News Awards.”

Unfortunately for the hapless president, there was a problem: The link provided in his tweet – which went to a webpage on GOP.com – didn’t work.
Instead, when web users visited the site Trump provided in his post, they were directed to a page saying, “The site is temporarily offline, we are working to bring it back up. Please try back later.”

Once the site did finally show up roughly 15 minutes later, it was filled with a small handful of what could only be described as weak examples of “fake news,” targeting CNN, The New York Times and the Washington Post, among others.
Overall, it was hardly an adequate presentation to bolster the president’s argument that the entire free press is conspiring against him. Instead, this whole exercise was likely another example of Trump spewing his mouth without telling anybody around him, forcing the real people in charge to scramble something together.
So not only was Trump forced to delay this pointless clown show for unknown reasons but when he did finally roll out the “awards” days after he originally promises, the website immediately crashed.
Yeah, that sounds about right.
